So how was Andrew Bird? Solid as usual? I've seen him a couple of times in the past 6 months and think he's great. He comes back to LA in December!

Except for all the people standing in the "Pit" area. You'll have to look over them. But still...your seats are very nice.
And a lot nicer than any seat we can get off ticketmaster, that is for certain

cool, thanks. I will give it a try

Where do we find the pass word for the KCRW presale?
-
Anyone get them?
I was one and in the system right away and they were gone in that time...

Fuck yeah

Is there a password for the music today presale's, specifically for the west coast tour?
Thanks

YES cannot wait!!
Although, the Greek is not all that great considering the sound level is turned way down and you can hear conversations from people in the next section. Also, because of the recent fires the curfew there is really early.
Hopefully, Wilco will play the Fonda or El rey on a second night.

somehow I ended up with three copies, but they make great gifts too...

sounds like a fuckin awesome show.
great set list

Who went?
This is the best full band M Ward show that I've seen. He's really coming into his own.

Beck played a surprise/secret show in LA last week [not so secret if I found out about it] for 400 people. It rocked. I have not picked up the new album yet, but it sounded awesome.
I went backstage aftewards (a friend of mine is married to a member of Beck's band) and chatted with Beck for a couple of minutes. Cool guy.
Any one else go? I know Ben was there!!

are you serious? people have been smoking pot since before your mother was a twinkle in her father's eye and they'll continue to smoke pot until the end of time. do you really think that it's a "fad"?
Sarcasm, look it up www.dictionary.com
but out here in LA, we only use Heroin!!

People still smoke pot?
What year is this?

My parents wouldn't let me go back then either. Our parents were right, it's still not safe.
I actually went to the inland invasion show last night and it was okay. The crowd sucked - there were about a dozen fights in my vicintiy during the hour long wait before GNR and security did virtually nothing to prevent it. Most of the brawls were not the 'you hit me I hit you thing' but gang fights where the participants probably wanted to use knifes and kill their opponent. [it seemed the local women also wanted to get involved in the action]
Axl played pretty much the exact same set as in Vegas. The only redeeming quality was the fact that I was in the pit. And I still think Axl sounds pretty good.

Anyone go to these shows?
I went on Sunday night to top off a very long weekend. [i still have not recovered]. The show was great and the crowd was wild. Axl's voice sounded pretty good considering, well, considering everything that has happened in the last 15 years.
He came on really late [probably 1130pm, but I don't really remember and wasn't really keeping track if you know what I mean] and I started a rumor that he was not going to show. I would have been disappointed if he didn't, but it would have just added to his legend - and the crowd probably would have rioted. [Especially because 85% of the people probably consumed more than ten drinks before the show].
The opening riff from Welcome to the Jungle started as Axl walked to the end of the stage and shouted "Do you know where you are?!!!??!!" The place went crazy. Everyone sang along to every single song. He played most of appetite, 4 new songs which were okay, live and let die, november rain, patience, used to love her, knockin on heavens door, you could be mine, and probably a few others.
After, approximately 30 women [very good looking women] were lined up to be taken in limos to meet Axl. I over heard one say to a roadie "Hey! I'm Candice, remember me, we met in 1988 in Fargo" Two hours later I was talking to some girls at the circle bar who were waiting for Axl to return so they could meet him in his hotel room. [i found this all to be really amusing.]
I know this is a terrible review, but it is all I can muster at this hour.

Yes, this is Johnny Damon and I signed over a dozen autographs in the Chicago area over the weekend. If I missed anyone, please shoot me a PM and I'll send a signed photo your way!! (I can cover the postage now that I play for the Yankees.)
In all seriousness, it was great to meet everyone!! The night could not have been better. Edie and Leigh - THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!!

Are there archives that I could search in or do old posts simply get deleted?
Thanks

Fuck yeah! Too bad I missed it. I went saturday only and was slightly disappointed at the whole thing. It was my first time too and I perfer Austin City Limits any day.
Although, my highlight for the weekend (which may tell you how much I did not enjoy the bands on Saturday) was seeing Adam Goldberg and David Hasselhoff within 5 minutes of each other in the tent next to the stage. Goldberg is such a bad ass and, well, Hoff is the Hoff!! He was will three chicks half his age
