  1. This was one of the things I was listening to the past few days. Other than the (of course) incredible original version, this has to be my favorite version of the song. Just great.

It's my favorite version.  Hendrix sound like a god proclaiming from the skies - and I still marvel at that guitar solo.

Yes, I think "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts" was the first Hendrix I bought when I was a young 'un.  Mostly all great performances (I'd say Hey Joe is marred by the radio interference, but otherwise good).

  2. Mitchell had to re-do drums for the Rainbow Bridge film?

    Not too surprising.

I really wish the audio was better all around for those sets.  I really enjoy watching the film.  Jimi Hendrix playing to a bunch of new agey hippies on Maui?  Ah the 70's!

  3. I remember hearing an interview with (I think) both Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell in 1983 when King Biscuit Flower Hour did a kind of tribute to the Experience, especially 1983 (a Merman I Should Turn to Be). Does anyone know if this interview is floating around the web anywhere? I've looked for it but so far no luck.

  4. Jesus etc. wasn't in the last two songs, so that would be another time. In fact the sing along during Jesus etc. was damn beautiful. What's wrong with people quietly singing along to the songs? Talkers, cell phone freaks and other distractions are certainly unaccaptable but singing along, really? We need permission and to be prompted and only then we can sing along?

ok, Jesus, etc. I only remember Jeff encouraging singing on one song. What's wrong with people singing to the songs is

    1) They are not "quiet"

    2) They are not on key

    3) They are not Jeff Tweedy.

I paid money for my tickets too & that was so my wife and I could enjoy hearing Jeff Tweedy play a solo set in a nice theater.

  5. There are many great solos.

However one of my personal alltime favorites is on an album called The Jimi Hendrix Concerts. It's on the live version of "Are You Experienced". This is a solo wherein Hendrix earned his reputation as "mutant guitar god from some other planet" for me...an ingenius mixture of feedback, echo, melody, and whammy bar greatness. I've never heard another solo quite like it.

  6. :) It's been a while since I posted here at Via Chicago. I *am* looking forward to seeing Jeff Tweedy solo on Dec. 27 here.

We've released our first cd! It's 12 tracks of surf and instro goodness and is downloadable and available on cd. Check it out at TheeJaguarSharks.com If you follow the download link there you'll be able to hear the whole album streaming in lossless quality.

    Cheers, James.

  7. If you think those are the only people that will be impacted by this, well, I am not sure what to say.

oh i realize it affects everyone ~ harder to get credit, more businesses closing, more layoffs, dollar worth even less ... i have been expecting it for a while. sad to see it happen, not a lot i can do about it except attempt to vote for candidates that might institute sound monetary policy (do they even know what that is?).

the irony is the highest ups at lehman's will probably leave with a golden parachute of millions or else end up the ceo of another bank. hey they might even head up the Fed!
