Jeff's played it solo, but yeah it might be the first full-band version without Ms. Feist.
It was great - I enjoyed it better without her.

Looking for two tickets for this Friday's show in Atlanta.
Edit: Found tickets - thanks to all who offered!

She's like the Michael of season 6.
Or Sawyer a couple seasons ago; "Where's Claire!" or "What's going on?!" - those were his two lines for the whole season.

Thanks for posting - I really like this version of War on War

I'm almost certain they recorded on tape while at Sear Sound since there were specific mentions of this fact made in articles around the time because they had such a hard time finding reel to reels. At that point I guess companies had scaled back their production and were virtually producing no reel to reel tape. The band had to even buy second owned reels if I remember correctly. That could be my mind running a bit far though. I honestly don't remember any mention of Pro-Tools ever being used around this time. Maybe your getting wires crossed with Summerteeth? Either way I'd have to say if it tape, then it's the tape, and definitely Jim O'Rourke. They really need to pull him back into the group. I can only imagine what this lineup plus O'Rourke behind the dials would produce.
You're correct - they recorded to tape. They mentioned that Pro Tools was used at the Loft to craft the songs, then they learned how to play them together and recorded live(ish) to tape at Sear Sound.

Is it the Studio, the use of Pro Tools, of Jim O'Rourke producing?
Probably a bit studio and a bit O'Rourke. What do you think?

I listened to Ghost is Born on my headphones for the first time in a while and I must say that it sounds fantastic. Really hope they decide to record an album at sear again. That's all - carry on.

Anything worth seeing or eating in DC besides the obvious tours of political institutions? Might be in town this weekend.
Busboys and Poets is a good restaurant, especially if you have a special diet

Yeah, not sold on Jeff's song either. I really like Too Blue, Little by Little, Bodh..Blues and Phil Selway's songs. The 3 worlds collide instrumental is really cool as well.

Beatles for Sale is the only of the early period Beatles that I've heard so far and it's WAY better than the 1987 version. Can't wait to hear all the other early Beatles albums - it doesn't seem possible that I can respect them more than I already do, but here we are.

Hell, the last Wilco album leaked by way of Twitter. You never know where you will find stuff these days. I am speculating, of course. I don't mess with such things myself.
Still can't find it anywhere - I'll try on bit of patience.
-
There is really no need to join some privater tracker, or even mess with a bit torrent site. I am sure if one digs around, you will find them on a Mp3/FLAC blog somewhere. Also, you can search Rapidshare for such things.
Fair enough - wasn't aware it was possible to search rapidshare.

Is there any way someone could pm me with a link to one of these bad boys or an invite to a torrent site? I want to hear what everyone is talking about.
-
Not sure if anyone here mentioned this, but Ryan Adams' Cold Roses is pretty great.
-
I'm not sure if someone has posted this already... Here's an interview (and performance) from just the other day:

Deeper Down sounds really good on this - I like it a lot better than on the album.

From what I've read and observed it doesn't seem like anyone is passing this along. A little frustrating to say the least as I sent Unlikely Japan to at least 30 VCers (while encouraging people to absolutely buy the album/merch/etc.), but what can ya do? Most people will just instruct you to do a google search and it will come up but from what myself and apparently many others have found is a website that could be considered sketchy at best with a few different torrent sources on it. These sources yield no results however as most (actually all i'm fairly sure) require a paid membership to get this ONE SONG.
So thats where we're at.
I can help out when I get back from work in a few hours (unless you already have it..)
-
ditto - it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
edit: got it - thanks all!

I don't think there's a best example on here. I think what's great about the album is that each song, on its own, can be held up as an example of Wilco (The Sound).
Also, I see lots of people connecting BBN to Spiders. I see it, but BBN hits me the way At Least That's What You Said hits me (the freak out part). Not Spiders. There's no logic to it. This is just my gut talking.
I agree - BBN makes me feel like I'm having a panic attack. My heart rate goes up and I start getting really anxious. That's what music should do - I love it.

Interesting that Side 1 ends with You Never Know - I kinda thought that would be a good start to Side 2
-
Wow, I just played my pre-ordered vinyl version backwards and in Wilco (the Song) you can distinctly hear ...
"Sue my ass off, dreadman."
well done

If I still have my copy I'll mail it to you. Let me make sure I still have it, then I can get your address.
Thanks, I'd appreciate it. If you don't have it, I'll continue looking around for it. I'm sure someplace has it.
-
You're correct, but those usually take several weeks. I may still do that, but I'm looking for a hard copy before I leave for vacation and forget about everything.

Interview is out now. Issue 70. Talks a bit about recording Sky Blue Sky with mainly sm57s!
Where can I find this magazine? I went to Borders/Barnes and Noble. Is it usually stocked in record stores?
