I have been helping these dudes out for a while and they are, seriously, the coolest dudes you can meet. All the new tracks that I have heard sound excellent, so far.
As far as the Psychedelic Swamp stuff goes.. There were only a few copies of the album made and they were sold at the very first few Dr. Dog shows. It's extremely lo-fi and from what I understand, it was just mostly Scott playing. They are still working on it and will probably be the next release after "Fate".
Can't wait for the Richmond show!

are SNL promos posted anywhere online?

I really don't mind that the show has been rescheduled. In many respects, I'm glad.
However, I just wish they would have announced it sooner. I mean, the show is in less then 5 days and they finally changed it on their website. That's kind of weak on their part.

The Wilco site has been updated a couple of times today and there still isn't any mention of this. Many of us who got our tickets through the pre-sale would really have no way of knowing..
Basically, it's weird that they still haven't mentioned it.

I think it was named after 'No Depression in Heaven' by the Carter Family.

Spent the whole afternoon driving around listening to "Real Emotional Trash" for the first time, and what a heavenly day it was! I can immediately say that this is his best album (imo, of course) since Brighten the Corners. I loved every track, & that's rare for any record, let alone a Malkmus one.
When the title track starts picking up speed at the 5 minute mark, another thing occurred to me: I think Janet Weiss has to be the best pure musician (whatever that means, I'm no expert, but I do know my Pavement) that has ever been in a SM-led group. Any thoughts on that?
The Jicks, in general, are super tight, where as Pavement was pretty sloppy.

I dunno, something about the album and Christmas. Can't explain it.
It's because they all dressed up as Santa for the Gold Soundz video.
-
YES! I'm hoping for an NC date.
-
What album is this, yo?
-
Silver Jews - American Water
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
The Kinks - Village Green
My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves
Fiery Furnaces - Widow City
I agree with anything Hold Steady.. It's pretty much perfect for a long drive.

I love eMusic. Pros: MP3s at 192, no DRM, much cheaper than iTunes (around 30 cents a track). Cons: The only catch is that eMusic doesn't offer everything--it's mostly indie labels. Still, I have the largest subscription package and never run out of good stuff to download.
I agree.. eMusic is the best. They don't offer Major Label music, however.

I'm going to the show tomorrow night, as well. Expect to leave with a huge smile, that's all I can tell you.

I'm having such a hard time deciding who to see, RPC or Okkervil River.. They just had to be on the same night.

Oink is a private tracker (ie: what you're downloading isn't made public, just inside the community).. It's about as safe as you can get as far as downloading music using BitTorrent .

i enjoyed the rough mixes of this but the real thing is actually pretty dang good...
I'm loving it, so far. I don't understand all the hate for Travistan.. I really dug that one, too.

It's pretty neat.
It's Wayne introducing the songs and giving a little explanation behind them. It's worth it because many of the songs are the demo versions .. and not to mention a studio recording of War Pigs. Anything with iTunes Originals Version = Demo.
-
Yes. It's a great album. One of my favorites of the year, so far.
-
Earlimart - Mentor Tormentor
-
It leaked yesterday and is fantastic.. Bishop Allen and The Broken String

Their performance on Conan was pretty underwhelming compared to their usual live fare, but that's how it goes with a lot bands on TV. They get too nervous about these things, sadly.
