  1. I have been helping these dudes out for a while and they are, seriously, the coolest dudes you can meet. All the new tracks that I have heard sound excellent, so far.

As far as the Psychedelic Swamp stuff goes.. There were only a few copies of the album made and they were sold at the very first few Dr. Dog shows. It's extremely lo-fi and from what I understand, it was just mostly Scott playing. They are still working on it and will probably be the next release after "Fate".

Can't wait for the Richmond show!

  2. Spent the whole afternoon driving around listening to "Real Emotional Trash" for the first time, and what a heavenly day it was! I can immediately say that this is his best album (imo, of course) since Brighten the Corners. I loved every track, & that's rare for any record, let alone a Malkmus one.

When the title track starts picking up speed at the 5 minute mark, another thing occurred to me: I think Janet Weiss has to be the best pure musician (whatever that means, I'm no expert, but I do know my Pavement) that has ever been in a SM-led group. Any thoughts on that?

The Jicks, in general, are super tight, where as Pavement was pretty sloppy.

  3. Silver Jews - American Water

Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain

    The Kinks - Village Green

My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves

    Fiery Furnaces - Widow City

I agree with anything Hold Steady.. It's pretty much perfect for a long drive.

  4. I love eMusic. Pros: MP3s at 192, no DRM, much cheaper than iTunes (around 30 cents a track). Cons: The only catch is that eMusic doesn't offer everything--it's mostly indie labels. Still, I have the largest subscription package and never run out of good stuff to download.

I agree.. eMusic is the best. They don't offer Major Label music, however.

  5. Now - (for the grande finale) we also have a few dates in September supporting Wilco...need we say more?

  6. It's pretty neat.

It's Wayne introducing the songs and giving a little explanation behind them. It's worth it because many of the songs are the demo versions .. and not to mention a studio recording of War Pigs. Anything with iTunes Originals Version = Demo.
