  1. After attending my first caucus here is my report from Newton IA:

The middle school gym where it was to be held was not big enough so each precinct had to go to individual classrooms. In my precinct (I am a slight Republican we do things differently than Democrats, there is no haggling or funny math of 'viability' we just vote) Huckabee got 41 votes, Mit 26, Paul 11, Thomson 11, McCain 11, Rudy 2. Then I stuck around to hear the planks people wanted presented for the parties platform. These people were crazy. We took a vote to see if the death penalty should be used on people selling narcotics to children. It passed with flying colors. What? Oh well.

    P.S. I was for Paul

  2. I would agree that most Ron Paul supporters are nuts. But you cannot argue with results, or their ability to raise money, 5 million in one day! While personally supporting Paul, I know he will never win, nor do I car much for the love-lution campaign. What I do like is that he said that he would leave people alone, and that is what I personally like.

  3. Speaking as an Iowan:

The argument about why small states decide the candidates for office is the same argument about the electoral college. It forces politicians to listen to states that get no say in the day to day running of the government (Iowa's medicare reimbersment's are the lowest in the country). So a nation wide primary would make the decisionsby the whole electorate less informed. If someone who was not an Iowan came here for this two year long election crap, they would see how much information is disseminated giving us Iowan's a chance to make an informed decision.

    That said:

Obama for the dems, the tiny elf man told his supporters to go to obama at the caucuses, followed by Hilary.

Huckabee for the Gop, as some one else said we are all white and basically christian, followed by Mit, the Rudy.

Ron Paul comes in a surprising 4.

  4. Haruki Murakami: after the quake.

A collection of short stories from 2000, about the earth quake in Kobe, Japan. I would read the whole collection to get it all. I cannot wait to read his new book, After Dark.

I read other books, that I cannot remember at the present time.

  5. Does anyone want to go to school for me those few days? I would pay you! This sounds simply amazing. Why didn't I go to school in Chicago, or even Illinois in general? Please some who goes tape every show and post it.

  6. Iowa's 3rd times since SBS?! They should just move here, that's awesome!

That would be great then there would (maybe) be more solo shows in Iowa. Or just shows that happen when I'm not at school somewhere else. Maybe I'll drive back for the show, It is the last day of my spring break, and just miss classes on Monday.

  7. I completely agree with just about everyone. I use the shuffle on iTunes, but only to skip forward to a good album that I have not heard in a while, or some random artist. My crazy relative sends me 3-6 data discs every month. With this addition I get overwhelmed to the point of not even looking at what is on the discs. That said, I also cannot go into a record/cd/music store more than about 2-3 times a year, because I almost always spend about $100. Not even on new artists, just back filling my catalog. I tend to carry about 4 travel cd cases in the car with me and end up going through all four, while driving, to find the next cd, even though I know it will end up being one of about 15 cds. So yes music today is overwhelming.

  8. Thanks for the heads up on Nade. Promotion is still a long way off, but the club is not far from the playoff spots now just 5 points with 26 to play.

Just out of curiosity, what club are you a supporter of? Halifax, Carlisle, or a bigger club? Personally, I prefer Italian football, and the best team in the world, AC Milan.

  9. Well, as far as choosing which team to buy, that was mostly a decision made outside of the paying members input. Mostly for legal reason's I think. I mean we got to vote on which side to purchase but ultimately it was left to Will Brooks, and the other insider, again for legal reasons.

To pick the team there will be voting on the web site http://www.myfootballclub.co.uk/ by payed up members. This, to me is the hardest part. Being from the states I will more than likely not see a game this season (unfortunately) so will have to follow the team on their site. Maybe I will get over there next year though.

  10. I voted yes because, while Jeff and John are the only two original members left, without Jeff the other five would still be rockin!
