are these shows going down to $50 for balcony like last year

Tonight at the 24 hour second city benefit show it was announced that this was the last year Jeff was doing the show. Just makes me wonder of the mortality of Wilco. Your thoughts ?

My fav cut from the new record. I would think it'd play well in large venues...

I went to the milwaukee shows at the pabst from this tour they played it there.

I worry that "Country Disappeared" and "Solitaire" are going to get the "Leave Me Like You Found Me" and "Please Be Patient With Me" treatment. They're too quiet for the rockin' setlists the band seems to prefer these days (due to playing larger venues, etc.)

Can't narrow down a list after that but ALTWYS is def the best song they have ever written.

Nels Cline has ruined Wilco. Why don't they just get Santana to join? Why all the flash? Play from the heart not the head. Jay was a much better creative partner.

 

Being There, Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel and Ghost are my favorites. No wank.

 

The new album is enjoyable but you can hear Nels suck the life out of it. Much different vibe and not in a good way.

 

I will listen some more. I am trying to dig it but it is trying to break my heart.

i dont know if youve actually listened to the new albums but they dont even use nels like that. sure he has like 2 solos on imposs and side with but hes just backround noise. They use him unfortunately like a GD pinch hitter.

just close to not having enough, imo. I could have heard Jeff screaming for a few more bars at the end.

every song on this album needs more bars of anything involving emotion

The new eminem album didn't leak this early and it's the most anticipated album of the year.

The chicago residency night 1 was great setlist.

It doesn't scare me at all. I'm actually happy that it will be included. I'm sure the lyrics and arrangement will be different.. Come on, that riff kicks ass.

I had backstage passes to the MSG show with neil young, got to go in Wilcos dressing room and all, very cool, but I talked to jeff about the new album while we were watching neil young backstage on acouple of tvs, and he said it would be out in the spring but there was a chance it would be out in the summer, and he said the wilco song is on it, and John told me that too. Nels on the otherhand i didnt bother to talk to because he had his button shirt unbottoned and no undershirt it was kind of weird.

knowing the wilco song is on this album scares me for what the rest of it will sound like.

most of a.m. and being there only becuase tweedy's voice has evolved so much and it just sounds weird hearing a solo verion of him doing them amazingly then you goto the album and it just sounds totally weird. . shot in the arm and heavy metal drummer ive heard more times than i can count. then a lot of songs on SBS i dont really feel that connected to. They seem like incomplete thoughts to me.

Yeah a new Loose fur record cant come soon enough. Perhaps Nels will be apart of it if there ever is a new 1.

sorry i was kindof all over the place with my post. I wasnt exclusively talking about live SBS songs i was talking about all wilco songs . and as far as the album goes side with the seeds is a a good example of nels freaking out and it doesnt overshadow the rest of the amazing musicians in wilco.

The only thing that I will say concerning the new album and One Wing, is that I am extremely excited for a lot more studio experimentation etc. But I AM afraid (from my impressions of One Wing) that the band will fall into the "Nels freakout" trap. He has such a distinct style and sound that I hope it doesn't become custom to give him his little shining moment in each song, I'd really love to hear him do something "beautiful", for lack of a better word.

IMO SBS should of been the greatest wilco record to date and instead was the greatest disappointment to date. For how progressive they are this record should've been ridiculous. Even if nels does have a "shining moment" on every song its not gonna overshadow any of the other members. What do you think is happening when you see them live. Nels adds his touch to every song( rightfully so), and in IMO makes them so much better. Anybody that attended the residency knows what im talking about. so many of the songs on SBS felt like incomplete thoughts to me and could've used that cline touch. Side with the seeds is a good example. Everybody shines on that song even with nels freaking out.
