  1. Sunday was an absolutely perfect day. Drove down from Milwaukee with a couple of friends (we all got a free pass from the wives-I always get one, they don't). We were about 20 people deep from the stage for the whole day. I was so grateful that it wasn't like last week's weather. Very comfortable. Not too crowded. Loved the setlist. It was fun that they got things rocking right away. Art of Almost was a highlight for me. What a great tune to see live. I bet they could draw it out to 15 minutes if they were given the time.

We had great friends around us too. I have a tendency to fly solo at shows, getting as close to the rail as possible. No need on Sunday. It was perfect.

Loved Andrew Bird's set as well.

Monday was a very tough day after three hours of biking, six hours of driving, and four hours of music. Totally worth it.

  2. Another good setlist. Liked the Black Bull Nova-Black Moon. Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding the first encores (second set) to be kind of a letdown. They could be a bit more epic Spiders (Kidsmoke) needs to be added. Theologians too. They obviously have a huge catalog, but I think they're overplaying the new album a bit. I'm sure other will disagree.

    Super Nick Lowe set

  3. This is true. Now if Milrock could only get a great Chinese or Thai or Middle Eastern place... (I was spoiled for years in Minneapolis by Rainbow (Chinese), King & I (Thai) and Holy Land (Mid East)).

Word about Minneapolis. I went to grad school there. Rainbow is amazing. So is Seafood Palace, Shuang Cheng, Ruam Mit in St. Paul, and Yangtze. I miss Chicken w/Nuts from Yangtze, Black Bean dumplings from Rainbow, and salt baked lobster, crab, or shrimp from Seafood Palace.

    Boy have I digressed.

  4. I'm 6'6" and 285 and I'll be STANDING right in front of you if you are in Row H, seats 5-8 on both nights :P

I think there will be a lot of standing and some sitting. There is no pit, so people really don't have to stand.

I'm not 6'6" or 285, but i do have a big bald head and shoulders that create a solar eclipse.

  5. Lakefront Brewery is a must. The guides there are absolutely hilarious. I don't even drink and I had a good time. Good root beer! Eight of us from the Lollapalooza message board went on the River Brewery Cruise last summer. We went to The Ale House, Lakefront Brewery, and Rock Bottom. Lakefront is in a class by itself.

  6. oh man Turner is great. I was at that black keys show and I remember the sound being great. I've seen probably ten or so shows there and the sound is always excellent.

But I think I'd rather see wilco at the Pabst versus Turner

I beg to differ. I have seen probably 8-10 shows at Turner Hall and find it to be only marginally better than the sound at the Rave (not Eagles Ballroom-that is THE WORST). Turner has a muddy sound and they really can't alter the acoustics at all. It's a historic building.

The Pabst will be incredible for Wilco.

  7. The Rave is probably the worst venue I've ever seen a show at. After seeing Andrew Bird and Wilco there a couple years back and hearing nothing but echos the entire show, I have vowed never to go back there regardless of who's playing.

    Worst. Venue. Ever.

    Thank god for the Pabst.

Agreed. The recording I have of the show is surprisingly good. The Pabst is one of the finest venues anywhere in the country. What a treat.

  8. I would love to go for a variety of reasons:

    1. I spent five hours on the presale and regular sale days to no avail. Ticketmaster was not very helpful at all.

    2. I would like to see Wilco for the first time in their hometown.

    3. I'm a really good guy and would be happy to buy you an adult or other beverage. I THINK my wife and daughter would attest to the good guy thing.

    Thanks
