  1. I just booked a room for the weekend at the River Bend Farm B&B in Williamstown.  It looks like a rustic and quaint Inn--only 4 rooms in the whole place and 2 shared bathrooms.  As of this moment, there are 2 rooms left.  All rooms are $120/night.  They ask that a deposit be sent by check "some time in the spring." The owner was charming--I'm excited!

    See you all in June!!

  2. Drove 8 hours from VT to see this show. Loved every minute of it. All 3 bands had amazing energy--thought the crowd was great. If people choose to leave early...oh well! More space for me!

Getting out of Camden is definitely no small feat. I found a small lot a few blocks away charging half of what the main lot charged. Was telling the guy next to me about it and he warned me to be careful on my way back to my car, or, as he put it, "Don't get Camdened." I got to my car safely, and was out of town within 10 minutes.

Excited to welcome Wilco to Vermont on Sunday!!

  3. Thanks for the lists and comments on the first two shows in Toronto... both sound great, but night two reads like - in the words of Charlie Sheen, "WINNING!"

I am heading up to Montreal tomorrow night and really excited! Was hoping for a Radio King and Summer Teeth, but alas, that probably won't happen... Good to that Jeff seems to be in a great mood.

On Saturday, I am seeing Mavis Staples at the Flynn in Burlington! Billy Bragg was supposed to co-headline, but his mother just passed so he is not making the trip. Instead, we are getting Neko Case which should be most excellent. Perhaps she'll join Mavis on "The Weight?!?!?!?"

Enjoy your weekend and see you all - or most of you - at Solid Sound!

I will also be at the Montreal show (SO EXCITED) as well as Mavis Staples. Neko Case, really??? I hadn't heard that. This is going to be the most amazing weekend of music I've had since Solid Sound!!

ps Paul, hope to see you in Montreal (your buddy Jen from Burlington)

  4. Very clever thinking, you deal-makers! Jeff was, naturally, hilarious in the dunk tank. After a little girl took her first shot, he yelled "You throw like a little girl!" He was also trying to discourage the crowd from trying to dunk him. The folks selling the tickets yelled "buy a ticket and support the arts," to which Jeff dryly replied "The arts are overrated." The entire weekend felt like a surreal dream to me. Attempting to dunk Jeff Tweedy in a dunk tank...definitely one of the most surreal moments of my life.

  5. Great post! I only caught two of the "evening with" shows, but I have been feeling the same gratitude over the past few days. The fact that both songs I requested for each show were played...icing on a very sweet cake. I, too, will see you in August. Thank you, friends!

  6. So how is Spiders acoustic? I've never heard it live and no it looks like my first time is gonna be acoustic. Can't say I'm too stoked

I've only heard Jeff do it solo, but it's really beautiful. Definitely slower and mellower than the electric crescendo-building version. There's nothing quite like the energy of hearing Spiders live, I won't lie. But I also really enjoy hearing the acoustic version. Just think of it as a different song altogether and maybe you won't be disappointed!

  7. I have a single ticket for Ottawa. Orchestra Row FF, Seat 4. Unfortunately I cannot go. I will be in Montreal tomorrow and can do the exchange there.

Please e-mail me by noon tomorrow if possible, as I will be driving up early and won't have e-mail access.

  8. Poutine is french fries covered in gravy and cheese curds. It’s more of a Quebecois/francophone thing - you should have no trouble finding poutine in either Montreal or Ottawa. Unhealthy and delicious.

Thanks for the review. Maybe we'll see you Saturday or Monday - safe driving.

It's hard to believe such a concoction was invented in Canada and not Wisconsin. I might just have to get to Montreal a little early. And bring some rolaids.

  9. I drove 9 hours from Burlington, VT to see this show tonight. People think I'm nuts (maybe I am, just a little bit) but you guys know the lengths a fanatic will go. It was, as usual, an awesome show. These guys are having so much fun. Someday Soon was definitely a highlight. Jeff said that it was the most requested song--57 people or something like that. Then he said they wondered whether it was really that many people making the request or just one very computer savvy individual. He periodically updated the crowd on the hockey score, finally announcing the win toward the end of the show, and of course the place went crazy (congratulations Canada!). There was an interesting moment with Glenn--I can't even remember which song it was, but Jeff pointed out that Glenn's pedal broke early on in the song, so for the rest of the song he was hitting the bass drum with his penis. Yes, he said it. I couldn't make something like that up. Right before Hummingbird, Jeff apologized that they couldn't play longer, but they had a big plate of pouttin waiting for them (no clue how to spell that, or even what it is, actually). He said that this was the rowdiest of all the Canadian crowds thus far, and there were some goofballs up front that were living up to that distinction. I'm exhausted, but this drive was well worth it. Excited for Montreal and Ottawa!

Here's the setlist. Unfortunately, they did not play Red Eyed/Got You or Kingpin. And Califone (who are phenomenal) joined them for California Stars.

  10. Welcome to VC,and congrats, you have some of the best pics of the guys I´´ve seen in a while (Tweedy&Sansone is very nice!) :thumbup

Seriously--these are professional quality shots. They got me pumped for the upcoming Canada/East Coast shows I'll be seeing soon! Thanks for posting.

  11. Jeff made a comment right before ITMHLY that Glen wanted to retire the intro. Then Jeff said something like "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

Then he said "If it ain't broke don't break it." That was enough to get Glen up. I know Jeff probably wouldn't like hearing this...a few songs into the show the girl sitting next to me turned to me and asked, "Do you know if that's his son playing the drums?" I know Glen has that boyish charm thing going on and everything, but, wow! She was pretty shocked when I said he was close to 40. We weren't that far away, either!

  12. I understand the frustration but I'm wondering where you wee located. I was in the first balcony and the audience were very quiet. In fact in the first half of the show there were moments of silence during the quiet musical parts that were amazing.

I was in the left side of the orchestra section. It was annoying, but I'm glad to hear that people in other sections didn't have the same issue. That gives me hope for tonight!

Although I agree that this was a more mellow show than others I've seen, this band just never fails to entertain. I've only recently discovered how much fun Pat is to watch--especially during IATTBYH.

  13. Phenomenal show. I'm not going to attempt the setlist either, though I'll say it was pretty heavy on YHF and A Ghost is Born (no complaints on either!). Was disappointed that they didn't play anything off Being There, and then for a final encore they brought it home with Kingpin. Awesome!

Jeff was all about the Wisconsin love tonight. He commented on his gig last night at the Brewer game and even came out for the encores wearing a Brewer hat, drawing boos from the many Cubs fans in the audience. All in good fun...

He also said that he still smelled like a ball park because he "ran into someone eating a hot dog." He said it got all over him and the smell was reminiscent of mostaccioli schnapps (?). And he complained that it isn't fair that the Chorizo sausage has to wear the sombrero during the race. Guess that was him, then.

I have to vent a little now, and I realize that I am preaching to the choir and the people reading and posting on here are not the offenders I'm referring to. Why do people spend good money to see a band only to talk throughout the entire show? It was infuriating tonight and all around me--it wasn't just some isolated people that I could tap on the shoulder and politely ask to stop talking. It's like these people thought they were in a bar and were trying to talk above the music. I don't understand. And I honestly expected more from the crowd at the Pabst. When Wilco's on stage there is nothing that can ruin the show for me, however, it would be so much nicer to enjoy the music without the distraction of chatter all around.

All right, sorry, had to get that out. Tonight was a blast and I am really looking forward to tomorrow!

  14. usually the shows are posted on dimeadozen or etree. Do you know how to download using a torrent?

I'm not sure how to download these shows. I'd love a simple tutorial! Many thanks to everyone who has posted these awesome youtube videos and the recordings to come. I am so grateful to be able to revisit incredible shows like this one.
