  1. I know, and the only thing I really want to say is that I truly, no joke, almost never get annoyed. I hardly ever get angry; at most I might be frustrated, but that's about it. I am pretty much always happy (almost to a sickening point, according to my wife) and any signs that I am pissed at somebody can almost always be taken as a joke. :)

  2. You should know with your 45 years of internet experience that what you wrote would not come across as just a joke. It reads like what it is - an annoyed response.

Maybe if you keep crying about it, you will...

Ah, nevermind, cause you will just take me too seriously again :)

You should try to visit the Wilco loft if you have the time.

That, my friend, would be quite ideal. Are you able to visit there?

  3. I hate the internet for this reason. When I replied, I was being sarcastic; I was joking. But unfortunately that didn't come across as others read it, and instead people feel the need to write 5 paragraphs in defense of something that didn't need to be defended.

  4. hey if you are coming to Prescott, Arizona I would be glad to tell you all the neat things to see.

Now that's the kind of attitude we are looking for :)

So just out of curiousity, since I know nothing about Prescott, is there anything worthwhile there? Or were you being sarcastic?

  5. Hey Analogman...can you help this person get the innummerable threads that have dealt with this??

Maybe someone can put up links to all the stuff we have talked about for years here. Sorry to be cranky, but we have given tons of ideas over the years and it is getting boring.....there are tons of music clubs, bars, plays, restaurants, neighborhoods to explore, els to ride, parks, places to stay, stores to go to, etc. etc etc.

If this person wants to contact me on PM I will try and be more helpful.

Just a freindly reminder, you do actually have the option of not reading every thread. Most new computer mice have the handy you-don't-have-to-click-stuff-you-don't-want-to feature.

  6. whenever I hear wilco playing at public stores or resturaunts I always ask them to change the song because I find the music offensive.

Haha, this is WAY off subject, but this made me think of it so I had to say it. I was at a video store once and it was just two guys there that night, so they were playing Dead/Alive on all of the TVs.Some little kid was loving it but his mom threw a huge fit and even got them fired. From that point on they only played either Disney movies or musicals. I wish they hadn't done that just because I didn't feel like seeing Bambi everytime I went there. Other than that, it was pretty cool.

Ok, I KNOW, I KNOW, and I'm sorry, you can get back to what you were talking about now :)

  7. One of the best mix tapes I ever had was one that I found for a buck at some flea market. It wasn't even much of a mix tape either really, cause it mostly consisted of Bunny Wailer and Toots & The Maytals. Still, I can't describe the effect that mix tape had on me, and I think I'm still benefitting from it today.

  8. ...and I don't know what to do.

Ok, I know that not everybody here is from Chicago, I'm not that naive (but I am PRETTY naive, don't forget). BUT, I figured since this is thread is all about Wilco, and I'm sure Chicago has a pretty decent Wilco fan base, I'm going to assume somebody here is from Chicago.

So, me and the misses (I've always loved using the term 'misses' since the worm on Labyrinth used it) are thinking about heading up to Chicago for the weekend (May 16-18) and was wondering if anything was going on. I'll accept any recommendations; music, art exhibitions, festivals, and anything else you can think of are much appreciated. Also, any stable staples that one might want to check out (i.e. specific art museum, great - but not too expensive - restraunt).

Thanks in advance for anything you have to offer :)

  9. I watched "The Island" last night. I never saw it cause I'm not a huge Michael Bay film (he's ONLY about action, listen to one of his interviews sometime) but this was actually pretty good. Kind of a throwback to Logan's Run I thought.

The Assassination of Jesse James- slow and long but semi-interesting and semi-creepy (Casey Affleck's character).

I really want to see that too. I have the soundtrack to this though cause Nick Cave is just awesome, and the soundtrack is great.

  10. incorrect

I apologize... what is the correct order?

This place is Pleasantville compared to a lot of other music boards around the net.

    And, welcome!

I've only been here a couple of days, but I can see that :)

    I like this new guy

Hey Chris, I like you too

  11. Welcome' date=' afterthefact. :thumbup I hope you enjoy this place. In general people are pretty kind. I do need to ask one question, and give one bit of advice.

    1) What's your opinion of the Dead/Garcia? (this is [i']crucial[/i]) :rolleyes

    2) Be sure never to mention the band with the phonetically phunny name by name, especially if you're a phan. It can save you much future grief. :stunned

    Cheers, MB :cheers

    1) Not a fan. Sorry.

    2) ?

    and 3)

make sure you know how to rank the wilco albums

    3) A Ghost Is Born, YHT, Being There, Summerteeth, AM/Sky Blue Sky (tie)

  12. Mogwai....hell yeah!

There are some great live recordings of them available for download and streaming at archive.org.

Makes for great late night ambience, in the background, while you are grooving with yo lady.....

Unfortunately about 95% of archive.org's live music catalog is made up of local jam bands. Not horrible stuff, but all the same. Mogwai does have a good collection there, as do a few others, like Explosions In The Sky.

  13. not even for a second - it was perfect.

i last watched Walk Hard. decent, not great, but man John C. Reilly is the man. and has been since Hard Eight.

He's creat in "Chicago." He is so pitiful in that movie.

  14. Nels is to Wilco as Steve Vai was to Whitesnake.

I see what you are saying. I think Nels is great, but I was never able to see how he ended up with Wilco; it just seems like two different worlds of music to me.
