  1. Someone who can talk him down from the panic attack. (just my guess.. I've had a few of these in my life)

I assumed he was calling the person (probably a girlfriend/wife) that he had just killed. He's freaking about the blood everyone and needs someone to comfort him, but oops, he killed her. My 2 cents...

  2. Yep. Unfortunetely they clash with the Decemberists and Elvis Costello, both of which I kinda wanted to see. But i'll probably try to get to Wilco early and get a good spot and stay there to see the boss. This is my first bonnaroo (or any music festival), can any veterans tell me abouts how early i'd have to get to a show to get a spot up close?

  3. Hey there, I'll try and film myself this weekend playing this for you focusing on my fretting hand, hopefully this will clear a few things up.

Thanks a lot, man! I'm getting the hang of some of it but a video would be great. I've been squinting at a video of JT playing this on youtube.

  4. I need some help with this one. I don't really understand how the fingering works with the riff you've tabbed here. I get how the chords are strummed continually, but i the riffs dont sound right to me for some reason. Are you supposed to be hold down the D for example while you're doing that first riff with the hammer-ons? like the first riff is 002200 and then hammer on the 4, do you hold down the D in addition to that so it would be 002232 with like a flat index finger and pinky doing the hammer-ons? I'm sure these are stupid questions but i'm a newb and i can't figure out how to play this right!

  5. My Ashes DVD arrived today!

However, I'm not so sure that your American-DVDs are compatible with my New Zealand-DVD Player:

Yeah it should work, just pop in the dubbed-video-dub.

  6. I can tell you they played it in Jacksonville, Aug. 7, 2008, and it was an excellent version. Clarinet from the Total Pros played behind it Dixieland style. There is/was a torrent out there for it -- by someone on the list here. I heartily recommend the concert and recording.

I think it was the 6th actually, but yes it was an excellent show. Blood of the lamb was great with that clarinet.

  7. The Dirty South, Decoration Day and Brighter Than Creations Dark are my favorites and, I believe, their most accessible. Southern Rock Opera is great but I don't believe it's the place to start.

I heard about the Drive By Truckers and listened to SRO first because I heard it was their best one. It turned me off initially cause it just sounded like a Skynryd knockoff or something, and didn't listen to any more DBT. Then I heard about how good Decoration day was (on this forum, probably) and gave them another shot. I loved it, and then I got Dirty South which was just as good. I'd suggest listening to one of those first. I'm waiting for them to come to my town cause I haven't seen them live yet.

I still haven't totally gotten into SRO, but i'm working on it...

  8. I've definitely become more discerning regarding what I put on my iPod. I tend to get a bit obsessive regarding my current favorite songs/bands and hunt down all their recordings and overdose. About 2 months ago, my iPod and Computer crashed back to back and I lost everything. I upgraded my iPod, but have been very selective about what I put on there and what I keep on there and it's been a revelation. Makes the music listening experience all the better. There's something psychological that goes on when you just have too much crap and muddled b.s. on your iPod that you've got to wade through. Plus, when you are exclusive about what you put on there, your random mixes are so much better...although, I do have all 360+ podcasts of "This American Life" on there which causes some difficulty on the random setting.

I can't comment on Neil, but I've found that being a completist is highly overrated.

I think you can highlight those podcasts in itunes and click "get info" and there's an option for "skip when shuffleing".

On topic, I try to only keep the albums I listen to on my ipod. The problem is if there's a song or two that I don't like on an album I generally do like, I can't bear to delete part of an album.

  9. Sure thing.

    Why is that though?

Because MP3's are lower quality than FLAC for example which is lossless, meaning it pretty much hasn't lost any of the original quality of the recording. People only like the high quality versions floating around.

  10. btw...here is the link to my recording. I think it came out OK. Sorry it took me so long to get up.

Thanks for putting it up by I can't get access to it. It says you need an account but It won't allow me to create one because there are too many users it says. could you perhaps put it up on a different website? Or if anyone has any other suggestions for me. Thanks again

  11. Just got back home to Orlando after the show. My first one, I really enjoyed it. I was up in the nosebleeds unfortunately, but i got a nice bird's eye view of the whole band. My legs hurt from standing the second half of the show.

The audience did screw up the clap at the end of Spiders, eventually turning into regular applause, but then the unison clap happened again, but then screwed up, the band just started playing at sort of an awkward time. My brother told me he thought the song was over, which I guess a lot of folks did. Maybe we'd get better at it if the band came to Florida more often!
