  1. We ate at public eat and drink for lunch on Saturday which was a much more relaxing (and A/C!) time. The food was also really good. We did Have to miss lucious though. How was their set?

I'll admit upfront that I'm a big fan - but Lucius was awesome. They really took advantage of the opportunity they were given. On stage with Wilco on Friday, main set on Saturday then perhaps the largest crowd for a "pop up" show I've seen in three years of Solid Sound Fests.

  2. For those who have children >> Story Pirates Writing Contest | Solid Sound 2013

Just an FYI for those with kids, The Story Pirates are amazing! My kid entered a contest of theirs a few years back and actually won. Amazingly enough, they turned his story into a song that was broadcast on sattelite radio - one of his most favorite accomplishments, listen to it at the link below

See you in a few weeks!

  3. Here's a Google Map link to where the campgrounds will "probably" be. I say "probably" because all we have is a description of being "south of joe wolfe field". You can see MASSMoCA and the baseball field on this shot - if not Zoom in/out a bit. Yes, there is a huge open field there as well as parking in the area that generally accommodates parking for the baseball games.

Pretty much an open field (no trees, shelter etc) but very close / convenient.

  4. Maybe I'm relaxed because I live here :cheers

I often drive two or three hours for shows that are worthwhile so hey, once in awhile, everyone else can come here right? If you're not worried about driving a bit you could stay in the amazing town of Northampton, MA. It's an hour away but if last year was any indication it's very easy to get in/out of town.

Northampton has everything you'd ever want in a cool multi-college town. Just another thought . . .

  5. Anybody else a little bummed that they aren't taking Solid Sound somewhere different in 2011?

There was really something "special" in the air last year in that everyone who wanted to be there had to make at least a bit of an "effort". You didn't get a bunch of casual, big city type fans. Everyone who was there really wanted to be there. I think Wilco felt that - planned for it - and valued it. The facility is spectacular, the band and fans loved it. Why change?

    North Adams Transcript

NORTH ADAMS -- Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art officials confirmed Tuesday what many in the local arts community already have been talking about -- Wilco and its Solid Sound Festival will return to the city during the museum’s upcoming summer season.

"Wilco is coming back," Katherine Myers, museum spokeswoman, confirmed Tuesday.

She declined to confirm when the popular alt-country band would return to the city, saying that several dates -- including a rumored June date -- have been discussed.

However, the band is expected to make an announcement related to the Solid Sound Festival later this week, according to their spokeswoman Deb Bernardini.

  7. A question from the one western mass wilco obsessive who didn't go this weekend (i swear i have a good reason, a doctor's note, whatever you need... ok, my 4 year old would have loved it, but I wasn't gonna bring the 7 month old, just a wee bit small for a long day like that), so, is there any word or confirmation of anything going on next year? Because, well, bring a 5 and a year+7 month old doesn't seem too bad of an idea.

Glad everyone had a great time, wish we were there.

The word is this (in the style of politicians) - in a conversation with Jeff the museum director, Joe Thompson, said

Jeff [Tweedy] and I talked this morning, and we had a hard time coming up with any reasons not to do it.
