  1. Thanks to those of you who replied to my post offering their extra tickets...It's nice to know there a good people out there who aren't looking to gouge you...I was lucky enough to secure a ticket for Saturday...

Hope it's a good show...how can it not be.

  2. Still hoping to find two tickets for either Friday or Saturday's shows in Montclair, NJ...

Montclair is 15 mins from my house and it kills me that I can't see Wilco right in my own backyard.

Anything I can do to pursuade you to sell me your tickets, please let me know...

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

  3. I tried buying during the pre-sale and on the following Friday but struck out.

Would love to find 2 tickets for either show. They can be for the floor or orchestra, it does not matter to my wife and I, as long as we can get into the venue!!!!

PLUS, I'll throw in a tray of my wife's delicious eggplant parm, chicken parm, ziti or lasagna....Your choice!

Hoping to find some generous, kind soul who could help us out...

  4. Wow...Didn't expect so much feedback for my question...Thanks to all for your replies...You have certainly giving me some things to consider. If I do take my son, my thinking was this...

It is a baseball stadium so I would stay out of the field (GA) area. I don't think he would be too keen on being right in the thick of the crowd and seeing some of the negative responses, I really wouldn't want him near those people anyway...If I could easily spot the kid-friendly fans, I would gravitate toward them so where a nametag if you go saying "Kid Friendly"

Understanding a typical 8-year old antsy-ness, I would stay in the seats where we would have some space and he could walk up and down the row of the seats yet still be able to see a clear view of the stage. Would also be in a spot with easy access to the bathroom. If he gets more comfortable as the show goes on, maybe try and move down a bit...I also wouldn't go with the mindset that I'm staying for the whole show...

Here's a thought: At Church they have an area where parents can go with younger / noisy kids...maybe Wilco shows can setup a similar area! Ha!

Thanks again for your replies to this interesting thread....

  5. I'm leaning toward the Wappingers Falls one, too...Nice country up there...

It is good to see that it is not that uncommon then...also is interesting to note that Wilco music appeals to the younger ages...

  6. Just wanted to see what the general consensus is re: kids at a show...My 7-year old son has asked me a few times to take him with me when I go see Wilco...I am considering taking him to either the Wappingers Falls or Brooklyn shows in July since they are outside in a baseball stadium...Ear plugs for him are a given...I don't remember seeing a kid sighting at any of the past shows I've been to other than the Tweedy solo show in Beacon, NY.

  7. I always get a smile on my face when my children (6 and 4) ask me to put on the Choo-Choo Charlie Song (Monday) in the car. When I glance in the rear-view mirrow, I see one playing an air guitar, the other holding a pretend mike, and both of them singing away. It is too funny.

Other songs my kids have requested:

    *Jesus, Etc.

    *Heavy Metal Drummer

    *Hummingbird

    *D. Boon

    *Strangers

  8. Wife and I are looking forward to the show as we have seen Wilco a bunch of times but never Jeff solo...

Anyone know what the lineup is like? I thought I read somewhere that there will be other bands playing...anyone know if that is true and who they might be? I would have to assume Pete Seeger will be there...Or, will it just be a solid Tweedy solo show....

  9. what's up partner!

i a pretty big csny fan. ever since i heard them in high school, i keep going back to them. got the box set back in 91 when it came out and damn if Thoroughfare Gap isn't just a gem. Probably one of my favor Stills songs and one of my favorite songs of all time. It's one of those songs I never tire of. CSN have several songs like that for me. The reason i think it isn't as popular is because most folks don't know about it. It's on the album of the same title which is totally horrendous! Over the past year i have been trying to collect some of Stephen's best solo stuff and his albums from the late 70s to early 80s are terrible except that one song, Thoroughfare Gap.

Great post. Any other favorite still's songs? i am partial to his acoustic stuff. There are a few on his latest release Man Alive, Heart's Gate being the best.

On a sad note, stills voice is shot and i can't believe people still pay money to see him or that he still has the audacity to tour and expect people to come. :dontgetit

I actually saw Stills play in the Chautauqua Ampitheater in upstate NY back in 1995 (I think). Real cool outdoor venue. His first set was all acoustic and he actually played Thoroughfare Gap!!!!!! I couldn't believe it and was the only one who yelled and clapped once he started playing it - that got me a few strange stares from the folks standing near me.

He fumbled one of the verses and afterward said that he hadn't played that song in a number of years. One of my all-time favorite concert events.

Not to go on about the song but it truly is a very powerful and emotional song for me not only for the words, but also because of the memories from a certain of my life that it stirs up...

Other than T Gap, there isn't a whole lot more I know from Stills.... 4 + 20 and Blackbird I suppose are the next top songs for me after Gap.

Shame about his voice although I would still chance seeing him just to here him play that song again.

  10. Anyone familiar with this Stephen Stills song? Anyone a fan of it?

My roommate in college played it once and instantly I was hooked not only by the melody, but the words. In the notes from the CSN&Y boxes yet, there is a Stills quote saying that the lyrics can stand alone without music - that it is poetry.

I often find myself searching that song out now and then when I need a little pick-me-up and inspiration. It is probably one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

Not sure why it isn't more popular...

If any of you are CSN fans, give the song a listen.

Just wanted to share my thoughts...
