Here's the link to the article: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/11/10/dave-matthews-red-hot-chili-peppers-wilco-to-honor-neil-young-at-musicares-concert/
here's the interesting part:
In previous years, many artists who performed at the MusiCares events also took the stage at the Grammy Awards, so Wilco and the Dave Matthews Band should perhaps expect some good news when the nominees for the 52nd annual Grammys are announced December 2nd.It's Rolling Stone, so who knows... I just wondered what everyone thinks about this
-
what was that name, jeff??
-
IATTBYH. sick. I knew today was a good day to skip my business class...
-
For the facebook announcement they had this sweet pic of john. hes really rockin out lol

This is a pretty cool video they showed before Phish came on and played Exile on Main St
You can see jeff strumming for a few seconds too haha

i stumbled across this again from wilco's early shows in 1994.... does anyone know where the song comes from. is it a cover and another lost tweedy original?
WilcoBase on Piss It Away: http://www.wilcobase.com/song.php?song_key=208
no clue where it came from. Im gonna guess its just a song that fell under the bridge. I wonder how many other songs there are like this that havent even been played live...

"It is our intention at Via Chicago to foster an online community that is welcoming, all-ages friendly, and enjoyable for all our membership"
Perhaps you should be the moderator of Michael Eisner's Disneyworld email forum. Wilco isn't rated G.
"I happen to know for a fact that Jeff Tweedy is a big fan of civility and good manners"
Wrong. The guy used to be the moodiest on-stage performer around, which was great. He shows respect to people who deserve it, and he points a finger at those who don't. Civility and good manners at all times is unhealthy and phony, and it's exactly what's found in the jam band scene.
And you are out of your mind if you think people can't be grouped into a stereotype. Or maybe you're right and black people and Mexicans love music like Wilco.
Wow... I'm just throwing this out there: Ban?

"stop blasting Phish because you clearly know nothing about the band or their fanbase"
I do have knowledge of Phish and their fans... I have a lot of friends and acquaintances who are fans, I've been to a couple shows, I've listened to their music, and I've read their lyrics. You all are just too intimidated to make conclusions about people with the fear that you might be wrong. And I love how it's wrong to make a blanket statement about Phish fans when blanket statements are made about groups of people all the time... New Yorkers don't put up with shit, Green Bay Packers fans are loyal, Asians don't have common sense... stereotyping is very healthy.
So are you admitting that you are wrong? Because that would be superduper...

I cannot complain, as I am pleased with (the Album). However, I just love this bonus track
It wouldve been cool to see it on (the album), but I guess the band just didnt want it on there. No idea why they didnt because its a great track. Id love to see them try and pull it off live...

You proved my point exactly with all the Wilco lyrics you listed above that have nothing to do with peace and love... to get TRUE peace and love, you have to go up against the bullshit in life that pisses you off, and the main reason I don't buy the peace and love in the Phish and the Grateful Dead scene is that it's surrounded by nothing negative, which is terribly unrealistic. Tweedy's lyrics switch between life's negatives and the beauty that he still believes exists. The guy is a true rebel against bullshit such as religion and greed, and the jam band scene is too "nice" to rebel against society like he does.
As far as you all questioning my knowledge on Tweedy's personality, it's not hard to pick up when you watch him in interviews and read his song lyrics. Even on this board one of you just said that you try to be nice and not say something negative towards another poster on here... that's very similar to the religious and phony behavior Tweedy blasts, and it's also very similar to what you find in the jam band scene, which was my original friggin' point.
Calm down, holden caulfield..
But really, stop blasting Phish because you clearly know nothing about the band or their fanbase. It's not very cool. and very Phony...
And also, stop trying to express your own opinions about other music by saying that Jeff has the same feelings. You dont know him and you cant judge someone based on the interviews and the songs he writes. But if you have some secret wilco song called "fuck phish and all other jam bands" please post a link as I'm sure we would all love to hear it!
Thanks man

This sounds great.. this one might be my new music pick up of the week..

Ashes is sick. so is hoodoo voodoo. and any show when they play Outta Mind (Outta Sight) and Outtasite (Outta Mind) is awesome. Ex: http://www.wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=1104

No matter what, WIlco is simply kicking ass live.. they are so inventive, adding muscle and nuance to already great songs. I love it.
True. But I'd also like to see them do more covers. Maybe I Wanna Be Your Dog like they used to cover in UT. And when you think of all the musical talent that is in the group, the sky's the limit as far as covers go.
-
Radiohead.
This would be great...
-
I can't really see it happening.. I mean they have no reason to. They're a great live band. and W(TA) wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. Just because it isn't a huge studio effort like YHF or AGIB doesn't mean you should write it off as not a great album.
And why does everyone here seem to hate Dave Matthews Band? They're a talented band, and Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King was a good record. I think they get a bad rap because of their mega-douche fanbase... just my 2 cents lol

You can watch a webcast of the concert here starting at 5pm edt.

The Detroit-St. Louis game was a good one.. And ovie's goals against Boston were great. It looks like its going to be another great season.

I was just wondering if anyone could explain this iTunes LP nonsense.. Does it have a point? and have any of you gotten one yet?
-
I really, really, reaaally like this song, and I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the best full band version that I should pick up... So let's hear it lol. Thanks.
p.s. not really particular to one certain line-up

There's a little interview between Jeff and Fred Armisen where he talks about Googlebating himself:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=3425517
That's a great interview.. I'd never seen it before. the mad-lib is hilarious

I could see Jeff doing a solo show there. It looks very cool btw.
