  1. One advantage of living in the Raleigh area...I pretty much get anything from KungFu the same day it's shipped.

Shipped Friday morning and was waiting for me Friday night.

I bought the AMF CD box.

Like a lot of folks here, I have quite a bit of the rare stuff, but from the time I saw the track listing it didn't matter, I couldn't wait to follow the rare and live tracks combo on a trip through their history.

    Amazing!

A perfect gift to their fans.

Only this band would do something like this.

  2. Through the years I've learned there are two AMAZING things WILCO has done for me.

First, I truly love just about anything they/Tweedy does. I'm guaranteed to find in each album too many songs that resonate so well with my life's experiences.

Second, I grew up with a Beatles obsessed mother and, as a result, their music became an amzing backdrop as I grew up in the 70s. However, as I got older and began listening to metal (in Jr./HS) and later (in college) the Dead, The Black Crowes, Phish, etc, I forgot how awsome The Beatles were.

It wasn't until I heard Summerteeth that I decided to crack open the vault. There was just so much in it that reminded me of those days.

So, now through the years, as each album has come out, I go through this cycle where I listen obsessively to WILCOs new release and then naturally move to an obsessive Beatles phase. I'm there now and thank WILCO for allowing me to connect to my past every so often, listening to some of the most amazing music (future and past) I've heard.

  3. Hey guys, I have been a lurker here for a bit, but decided to finally register and give you guys the heads up on the posters I did for these shows. I was lucky enough to be hired by Wilco to make posters for the Atlanta, Richmond, and Scranton shows. I have done posters for many major bands and festivals, but it was especially great to be able to do work for a band that i admire so much. I know some of you have been asking about getting some of these poster so I thought id let you know I will have them onsale tomorrow (Friday 4/2) at 10am! you can get them here

here are some images of the posters...thanks!

Assuming you didn't do the DPAC show poster...?

The displayed poster looked like your work also. Too bad.

    The search continues.

    Great work, btw.

  4. I missed getting the last poster...so close. I was asking for it while the last one was being taken down from the display.

If anyone is looking to rid themselves of one, I'll gladly take it off your hands.

Considering they've put the Richmond poster up for sale, I'd think it's safe to say, all the DPAC posters are gone.

  5. This is the same guy who has unreleased masterpieces like 48 Hours and Darkbreaker. If Ryan wants to release a loud album, he should do up all those wicked Blackhole songs that he talked up about in his so called "box set". It's a waste of talent and a shame to see him dick around with this "metal" (and that's not even metal, he's going to get ridiculed)

Bring it on. Honestly, I'm just happy he's putting something out.

If history repeats we might be able to look forward to a "Love Is Hell" type follow up.

  6. I'd have to put my favorites into 2 different buckets.

    1. Bands I currently follow every move

    WILCO

    My Morning Jacket

    Ryan Adams

    Drive By Truckers

    2. Bands I have personal connections to whether by coming of age or specific life experiences (CDs/albums are always close by)

Genesis (Gabriel era) & Gabriel solo (big 4)

    Pink Floyd

    Beatles

    Iron Maiden

    Bruce Springsteen

Van Halen & DLR (first concert was Eat 'Em and Smile tour)

There's only one band that seems to fit both through the past 20 yrs - The Black Crowes

  7. I'm holding out on the pre order...I'm struggling with dropping some coin to add the shirt.

Hitting the Saturday show in Raleigh this weekend.

Figure I'll check out their swag table first. They're bound to have some sweet tour shirts.

    Can't wait for this one!

The 40 Watts shows from last Jan sound great...the new stuff sounds great live!

  8. I was able to snag two for the Durham show. I can't wait! This will be my second time. Saw them when they played Cary 2 years back.

I've been to too many shows in my life...been to some real good ones, but that Cary show completely converted me. Glad I was able to beat the sell out. Good luck to all who couldn't get theirs. I'm sure some more will be released as the date gets closer.

  9. They're actually not on a creative decline. I can't speak for the Dead or the Replacements, but W(TA) and EU are far from awful records.

They're all now making music that you don't enjoy as much. Which is fine. but it doesn't mean they're on a creative decline.

    I agree.

EU is nowhere near a musical decline for MMJ. It, imho, was a risky move for them...pushed JJ's creativity, etc.

(TA) doesn't take the same risks MMJ took with EU, but it is a great album and flows very nicely from one song to the next. Again, imho, it seems like Jeff and co were able to create a cumulative album that captures who/what WILCO is.

  10. Once...last year in Cary, NC.

Throughout the yrs I've spent most of my time and money chasing The Black Crowes and Ryan Adams.

I didn't really start to get WILCO until about 2 yrs ago.

Now I rank them as one of my favs (Finally seeing them live did me in), so I have some catchin' up to do.

  11. I know people hate the Tweedy/Ryan Adams comparisons, but I think Ryan Adams last 2 Albums are way better than Wilco's last 2 albums.

    I don't know about that. I'm a huge (H-U-G-E) DRA fan.

But, (The Album) is a better album than Cardinology.

Easy Tiger is a better album than SBS.

    Push, IMHO.

Both have not produced completely mind blowing work in a few years, but both are still far and beyond putting out better stuff than 95% of the other bands out there.

With the Cardinals break up, I can only hope when DRA works out whatever needs to be worked out he will come out of the gate with 05 quality stuff again.

The only problem; being content with life tends to limit introspection, etc, etc...

  12. I actually bought it this past Tuesday on official release day, but just haven't been able to watch it until tonight.

It's AMAZING and captures Jeff and the current lineup on and off stage so perfectly...it's artistic in approach, but doesn't skimp on offering a nice collection of new songs and some old favs.

Thumbs WAY up for this one.

    That's all.
