  3. file this under the "i don't know if anyone other than me cares" file:

so, i just happened to be rereading tweedy's poetry book adult head and the poem entitled 'unlikely japan' caught my eye. in the poem, i noticed lyrics that appear in the final track ('wanted') on loose fur's current release. i have yet to hear 'impossible germany' to know if any lyrics from the aforementioned poem appear in the song, but i do know from previous posts that the main chorus line is "impossible germany, unlikely japan"...

here's the poem, for those of you interested. hope i'm not breaking any rules by typing it here, but i'm assuming it's ok since song lyrics are often posted.

    Unlikely Japan

when I say that she's the rapist

that really isn't what I mean

it was all in my imagination

    to be claimed too easily

with almost loving force of will

what would have been given sadly

    without deceiving me with skill

    she was still only taking

what I should give more carefully

    (but now) religion enters in

god cracks through her moist skin

    and twirls from her baton

her hair suggests a roller skate

    he whispers through her perfume

    just above shallow watery surfaces

    ripples with action lovelike

there is no voice so thin

    she knows what she wants

that she wants what she knows

she wants this to mean nothing and that sounds fair to me

    a made-by-hand halo and new-fashioned wings

she is blind to be an angel that's rare to be

    she's not so well rounded

she has points you don't see

    she does whatever she wants

    (and I swear)

    she wanted me

personally, i think this poem is brilliant, as is the song "wanted" that shares its lyrics with it. :worship

OH!!!! that's where it's from It was driving me crazy I knew I heard Unlikely Japan before and could not think of where I heard it thank you!!! :lol if only I would have picked up that book!! :D

  4. Ok this is what I got for this part:

if you're thinking about needing somebody

to lift you up when you drag

    don't lose sight of yourself

don't let anyone change your mind

and if the whole world's singing along

and all of your paintings have been hung

    just remember what was yours

    is everyone's from now on

This is what I hear now Just thought I'd share: :)

if you're thinking about needing somebody

to lift you up when you drag

    don't lose sight of yourself

don't let anyone change your mind

and if the whole world's singing your Songs

and all of your paintings have been hung

    just remember what was yours

    is everyone's from now on

Also here's a video from youtube of this song:

  5. I'm pretty sure it's "when all your pictures have been hung".

Well he sang 'Pictures' the first time then at the Montreal Show he sang 'Paintings'

I actually like paintings better because he mentions it earlier in the song so to me

it makes more sense and plus it just sounds better! :D

  6. if you're thinking 'bout being somebody

to lift/pick you up when you're dry

    dont lose sight of yourself

dont let anyone change your ???

and if the whole world's singing along

and your paintings/pictures have been harmed

    just remember what was yours

    is everyone's from now on
