  1. Only surprised by how this show seemed to carry on with the noise longer than what I'm used to on the albums. I don't recall it happening to this extent at the other show at the Pageant 2 yrs ago . The "noise" works on songs like via Chicago because it is brief and adds a dynamic. Maybe I'm just getting old and don't care for being partially deaf for a day or two after concerts anymore.
  2. Not true. Big Wilco fan, not rabid, but I almost always have one of these in heavy rotation: Summerteeth, Being There, Yankee, AM, Sky Blue Sky, Anodyne, Mermaid Ave I and II, and of course the Whole Love which I am really enjoying. Love those. I don't have all their stuff, I'll admit, and a couple songs last night were not familiar to me. Only been to 1 other Wilco show previously and was blown away. Feedback and noise piled upon noise has its merits. But a little of it goes a long way. And if I want to listen to the original article, its probably going to be Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse
  3. Feedback = filler = boring. And it was way more than 5 minutes. I would say it averaged a good 30 seconds to 1:30 minute per song . . . and over 20-25 songs, it adds up. From where I was standing - row W, when the lights shined out over the crowd during these moments -- almost everyone looked bored. No wonder the arguments of standing vs. sitting. I found myself wanting to sit many times, but had no choice. I'd grade the show last night a solid B, with Nick Lowe saving it from sliding to a C, but thats just like, my opinion, man ' )
  4. I was at the show last night and I thought Nick Lowe was outstanding . . . borderline stole the show, both with his opening set, and brought some much needed variety to Wilco's encore. 36 inches and Love My Label were really, really good. Wilco was pretty good -- not quite as entertaining as the last time I saw them at the Pagaent. They need to shorten up the long periods of distortion that it seems like they go through with almost every song. Audience seemed mostly bored during those frequent and prolonged periods. Nels can flat out play the guitar, okay, I get it, no argument there.
