  1. The smaller academys take a cut of merch, so I'd imagine the main hall does too. I think the problem is that the academy is the only venue in the centre which can accommodate a band of this size (like mogwai and sonic youth too). Bridgewater Hall could work but it's pretty big and risks being half empty. Lowry is brilliant, saw Sigur Ros there back in 2005 (I think) and it as great. Thing is; people in Manchester, students and the like, don't want to travel out on the metro to Salford. It's only 15 minutes but it puts them off, especially if you need to get the last train back to places like R
  2. As I said in the manchester thread, bloody great show. Shame that I went to 2 shows and saw neither Ashes of American Flags nor California Stars. Damn. You just know they'll play them in London right? Probably. Great crowd last night, very attentive which is something that Manchester crowds get entirely wrong. I'm not just shitting on Manchester, I have lived there my whole life and shows are generally at their worst there. Of about 30 Low shows, Manchester ones have been the worst for crowds (apart from London Koko) Art Of Almost I Might I Am Trying to Break Your Heart One Wing Bull Black
  3. Bristol was great. Much much better. What a show! Nice versions of jesus etc... and muzzle of bees.
  4. Think I've got a spare for bristol, took me 6 hours to get here, fucking sat nav.
  5. The gig was OK. The band were great, but the venue is dreadful and I think the setlist could've been in a better order. Even though I live in Manchester, I rarely enjoy the gigs here because the venues are bad and the crowds are even worse. Fair play the crowd wasn't so bad last night. They soundchecked a cover of "you really got me" yesterday. Looking forward to Bristol tomorrow, that is a real great venue!
