  1. Hey, Chad, good to "see" ya! :wave

    thanks for the info.

Hey Bridget! I'm still around, but I don't post much these days.

I got into the Mountain Goats seriously about two years ago, and then went out and bought all of their available cds (about 15). Sunset Tree, Tallahassee, and AHWT are my favorite (along with Sweden). Get Lonely has some great songs, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to the whole thing. I love that I've been able to see them 4 times in the last year because John Darnielle lives in Durham, NC. They also have a lot of shows at archive.org.

Oh, and I'm listening to PJ Harvey's White Chalk. I'm still not sure what I think of this.

  2. I'd recommend:

    1) The Sunset Tree

    2) We Shall All Be Healed

    3) Get Lonely

And that's all the MG material I have currently.

After Sunset Tree (and before the other two) you should get:

    Tallahassee

    All Hail West Texas

If you are still interested from there, get the other two and then go backwards.

  3. Y'ALL:

It's with a wide range of emotions and feelings that I'm announcing that we have parted ways with Jason.

The split, which I consider extremely amicable is the result of a period of personal and artistic growth from all sides which has left us with differing dreams and goals.

Wow! I just saw this at the dbt site. Man, this sucks. :dontgetit

  4. Hey Chad- was that you who loudly shushed those drunk guys? I don't know when they weaseled their way onto the lawn behind us (beside you), but I only started to notice them during the encore.

    Scott

    Hey Scott,

Nah, I didn't shush anybody--that usually ends up being louder than the talking--but some of the people that I was with might have. We mainly just ended up making fun of them, between songs, of course. :lol Anyway, good to meet you and I hope the drive back wasn't too bad.

  5. I guess thats what happens when you sell full bottles of wine :) does anyone know how much those were going for? And why sell bottles of wine but cans of Corona?

also, did anyone else notice the guy leave with his 2 kids, walkin in front of the stage on his way out and flick off Tweedy during Ruling Class?

The bottles of wine were $14! :yes The beer cans were $3. My wife went for the wine, but I went for the Newcastle until they sold out, then switched to the Corona. Good times.

What the heck was wrong with that guy? What did he expect at a Tweedy show? I was actually surprised that Tweedy's banter didn't include any 4-letter words--not that my kids probably haven't heard them before. :hmm

As for the talking, there was a good bit in spots. Most of it didn't bother me, but Tweedy did react a couple of times, including changing a line in "Walken". I did get annoyed by the guy next to me on the lawn that kept calling people on his cell phone and telling them that he was thinking about them. Whatever.
