  1. Can anybody help oldking out? This is a good friend and an excellent photographer, who took some amazing pictures as the official photographer at Mergefest this year. Why does Memphis not have a camera store with Canon lenses?
  2. The lyrics may be silly, but the song sure is catchy. As are many of the "Always the Bridesmaid" originals.
  3. I'm excited about this--it's only about 5-10 minutes from my house. And it's a nice venue.
  4. I love the Magnetic Fields, but I haven't found the leak yet. I'm looking forward to the new release. Wish I could go see one of the shows, but they aren't coming anywhere near me and I don't have the time to travel.
  5. Hey Bridget! I'm still around, but I don't post much these days. I got into the Mountain Goats seriously about two years ago, and then went out and bought all of their available cds (about 15). Sunset Tree, Tallahassee, and AHWT are my favorite (along with Sweden). Get Lonely has some great songs, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to the whole thing. I love that I've been able to see them 4 times in the last year because John Darnielle lives in Durham, NC. They also have a lot of shows at archive.org. Oh, and I'm listening to PJ Harvey's White Chalk. I'm still not sure what I t
  6. After Sunset Tree (and before the other two) you should get: Tallahassee All Hail West Texas If you are still interested from there, get the other two and then go backwards.
  7. Wow! I just saw this at the dbt site. Man, this sucks.
  8. Nah, it was Patterson. I wish it were Jason, but it was still great.
  9. I caught them in Durham, NC last night, and they smoked. They came out for the encore and played four songs acoustic (including Nine Bullets and Outfit!).
  10. Hey Scott, Nah, I didn't shush anybody--that usually ends up being louder than the talking--but some of the people that I was with might have. We mainly just ended up making fun of them, between songs, of course. Anyway, good to meet you and I hope the drive back wasn't too bad.
  11. The bottles of wine were $14! The beer cans were $3. My wife went for the wine, but I went for the Newcastle until they sold out, then switched to the Corona. Good times. What the heck was wrong with that guy? What did he expect at a Tweedy show? I was actually surprised that Tweedy's banter didn't include any 4-letter words--not that my kids probably haven't heard them before. As for the talking, there was a good bit in spots. Most of it didn't bother me, but Tweedy did react a couple of times, including changing a line in "Walken". I did get annoyed by the guy next to me on the lawn
  12. Good show, though somewhat short. It was great to see some old friends and meet some new ones. Some highlights: "What light?" opener and "Acuff-Rose" closer. And the hilarious banter.
