  1. Schmilco reminds me of the way I felt when I first heard Yankee and Ghost. On first listen I was not overwhelmed, but I found myself thinking about what I was hearing until I fell in love with both records. I'm getting a similar vibe with Schmilco that was lacking with SBS, WTA, and TWL...

  2. I agree. There’s an anxiousness and darkness in the lyrics and Tweedy’s voice. That, combined with the sonics and beautiful studio pop conjured up by…I assume in somewhat large part, Jay Bennett (the pinnacle being Pieholden Suite…so amazing!)…makes for really fascinating listening. For me, it's Wilco's masterpiece.

    I agree

  3. I was fortunate to attend both shows. The highlight for me was "Remember my Mountain bed" I have never seen him play that song live before. I was completely floored by the ease at which Jeff performed this very difficult and lyrically challenging song without a glitch. Add to the fact that the emotional depth at which Jeff played it I was completely blown away.

  4. What a great show. As you guys have said, Wilco is an amazing live band. I loved the somewhat acoustic / folky / roots-y setlist. New Madrid? Forget the Flowers?  Casino Queen!! My only complaint was too short a set.

I was hoping for a cool collaboration, but who could have guessed Nancy Sinatra? Amazing. Talk about nailing a song they rarely play, it seemed like the played Bang Bang and Boots every day for a year. Funny how JT flubbed the words to HMD since that was Nancy's request. So surreal, I don't blame him at all.

Cinnamon Girl as a closer was phenomenal.

MMJ was good. I have to admit I do not have a lot of experience with the band, but they were pretty good. As mentioned the Dylan cover was outstanding. Rolling Thunder for sure. The mix for them was a little muddy and distorted (especially compared to the crisp clean Wilco). Not sure if intentional jam band EQ. But they played with passion and energy that I appreciated.

I had seen Dylan in 1992 so I kinda knew what to expect, but I still have to say I was a little disappointed. Here is an artist that is easily the most influential on me and my taste in music, and I felt like I tolerated him in lieu of actually enjoying him. Tangled Up In Blue is my all time favorite song and it was almost unrecognizable. Oh well. Some days you get the bear...

Didn't make it for Ryan B.

EDIT: I don't know how someone can make Cali Stars worse, but Jackson Browne managed. We were literally under California Stars, for F's sake!)

    Brutal Jackson Browne.

  5. Grand show last nite. I was lucky enough to have pool circle seats. The sound was great where we were sitting. I thought it was a spectacular show last nite. Sunken Treasure and Ashes were awesome. I got to see all 4 LA shows thos year here is my rankings.

    1. Hollywood bowl. Inspired show great setlist historic venue

    2. Palladuim. Had low expectations from prior experiences at venue. Boy was I wrong. Most rockin Wilco show i have seen

    3. Los Angeles Theater. Beautiful Venue. Poor seats

    4. Wiltern. The Wiltern sucks bad sound. Crammed in like sardines. Tweedy in bad mood. Poor setlist

  6. The Wire. I just watched seasons 1-4 again. Alot like Wilco you have to invest time to get it. Once you do there is not a better or more real show. So many great characters, Prop Joe, Bubbs, Omar, Marlow, Snoop, Bunk, Clay Davis,Cutty, Stringer Bell, Mcnulty, Frank Sobadkis, Nick Sobadkis, The Greek, Avon Barksdale, Daniels, Rawls. I could go on and on.
