  1. The behind-the-scenes issues with that show have been mind-boggling. Delays, rewrites, etc. I can understand the network's trepidation regarding its prospects. It's been proven that Whedon fans alone can't adequately support a show.

And Buffy is the best show in the history of television. Well, tied with Sports Night at the very least.

I couldn't agree more....except for maybe The Wire :worship

  2. We're staying a few blocks from the Ryman, too. I'm planning to park my truck on Saturday and not move it until I go home on Monday. Our hotel is also a few blocks from the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Hatch Show Print.

I did a little bit of food research this weekend. My husband's voted for Rae's Sandwich Shop and Jack's Barbeque. Jack's is Ryman-adjacent, so we'll probably go there before the show.

I haven't researched book and music stores yet, but I know where the yarn shops are. :) The last issue of Bust Magazine had a great article had a great article about cool stuff to do in Nashville. I meant to save it, but I think it accidentally went in the recycling bin. I just emailed a friend who might still have her copy. If so, I'll pass along any good info.

    thanks!

  3. hi, there-

i'll be heading to nashville this weekend for the ryman show and was hoping to get some recommendations for things to do while there: places to eat? bookstores? record stores? sights not to miss? anything would be appreciated.

p.s. i'm staying downtown not too far from the ryman and don't think i will have a car.

  4. I, too, am confused about the password for the Nashville presale.

Can anyone help me out, please? I will be eternally grateful for any help you guys can share.

    Thank you!

i have been searching for the ryman ticketmaster presale password as well. i did find this blog: http://ticketmaster-presale.blogspot.com/ which states that the password for the charleston show is JEFF. maybe the nashville password is the same? i'll give it a try in the morning anyway.

  5. I can't believe that none of you that went mentioned Donald Judd and the Chinati Foundation. It's one of the best collections of minimalist contemporary art in the world on an old, decomissioned army base. I haven't been there, but would love to. If another show there really is in the works I highly highy recommend you go.

And if anyone wants to do a B&P or trade for this, I'd more than appreciate it.

my husband took this picture of one of the judd pieces at the chinati foundation. it was pretty awesome.

  6. What kind of updates do you get from the 512 #?

not much-it's just a recording that lists everyone taping an episode of ACL during (and right before and after) the festival and on which radio shows the ticket drops will be announced.

  7. i'm not sure if this has been posted, but i wanted to give a head's up for anyone who wants to try and score passes to the acl taping on saturday. apparently wilco will tape saturday at 4pm, and the ticket drop location will be announced on KUT 90.5 Fri Sept 14 on the Left of the Dial show, which comes on from 8-11 pm.

you should be able to call and get updates here: 512-475-9077

  8. I'm driving in from Austin, have no idea where this place is or the best way to get there. Any one from San Antonio want to help me out, or is a simple map all I will need? Parking secrets? Maybe? :worship I'm driving in with my friend who just moved here from Ohio, so he's even more helpless than I am.

And even if you've got no insider tips for me, is anyone from VC going besides me and whatdisay and his wife?

    Hmmmmmm?

i'll be driving over from austin with my husband and two other pals on friday afternoon. i've never been to this venue either-i guess we'll just use mapquest. from the website, the place looks to only hold 1,000 people, which i'm pretty excited about since the last few times i've seen wilco have been at stubb's and the acl festival.

  9. UT VS. OSU!!!!

This town is already jammed packed without everyone traveling to see this game. From Movies to Jobs, You can feel Austin swelling more than ever, but this week Burnt Orange and Red & White are completely taking over. Lots of OSU fans, and chaos lingers. Forget hotels, forget eating out anywhere, and folks have been lined up at the stadium since Tuesday. Can't wait!
