Anyone watching the Texas vs UC Irvine game? UCI was up 9-5 going into the ninth. Texas has them loaded with one out.

It hurt really bad not seeing my LSU Tigers in the SEC tourney this year. They fell apart down the stretch, but I really feel Maineri will have LSU back on top in a couple of years.

 

Man I love college baseball. I had the pleasure of witnessing one of the all time greatest moments in Omaha, when Warren Morris took that first pitch, 2 outs. bottom of the ninth fastball deep over the right field wall. I was in a huge section of LSU fans on the first base line and it was like white noise for a solid 30 seconds.

That's correct. The SEC is sending 5 teams to the tourney this year.

Remind Alex Rodriguez, once again, why he decided to come to New York? As if matters weren't disastrous enough in The Bronx right now, it appears everybody's favorite sensitive boy has been gallivanting around Toronto with buxom blondes who aren't his wife. We know! We're as shocked as you! A Major League Baseball player, of all people. Well, now we've seen everything!

A-Rod, predictably, had no comment on the New York Post cover story, which details how he went to a strip club with the woman and then hopped in the elevator to his hotel room with her, alone. (No!) We can't say we envy Post reporter Dan Mangan's assignment of following A-Rod around all evening -- most nights probably involve him watching Chris Farley movies, we suspect -- but we think it's rather fitting that, finally, the world of sports has fully given itself up to the paparazzi. We still think someone's gonna figure out a way to blame this on blogs anyway.

But anyway ... A-Rod, for the first time in a while, vaguely resembles a normal, breathing human being this morning.

The college baseball regionals start Friday. These games are usually very entertaing. Vandy and Rice are the class of the tournament. Arkansas drew the number 7 national seed, and are hosting a regional. Here are the other schools who are hosting.

Two things you don't see often in a ball game last night. First, watching the NYM v. SF game in extra innings Armando Benitez (former Met closer) gets rattled while facing his opossing team during a tense 12th inning and allows the tying run to score because he caused TWO BALKS in the inning allowing Jose Reyes to advance twice. Reyes had Benitez all jittery with a bunch of fake steal moves, etc.

I could not believe this when it was happening. Benitez folded like a lawn chair.

I don't know what to say. Terrible comes to mind though.

You seem to be confused about what marketing actually is.

 

Lots of people (including you) think that it is advertising alone. Wrong wrong wrong. Toyota marketers researched (a huge part of marketing) what people want. They split them into market segments that share like qualities, then tell the engineers what to design so that the vehicles are created with the feature function set that people in the segments actually want. The design part is particularly important.

 

Then a different set of marketers (usually agencies) create advertising so that people who want the features/function can find them -- with or without sellout artists.

 

The Echo is an entry level vehicle primarily aimed at people who care about fuel economy -- you. It is also aimed at people that were thinking about getting used, but can afford a lower priced new car (thus the term "used car alternative").
