  1. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Former Chicago Bears and Arkansas Razorbacks defensive lineman Ken Anderson has died of a heart attack at age 33.

Anderson's pastor, Dexter Howard of Life Harvester Church in Fayetteville, confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday that Anderson died Friday night. Anderson was a minister at the church and was living in the Fayetteville area.

Anderson lettered for the Razorbacks from 1994-97 and played for the Bears in 1999.

  2. Hey folks. Just got back from SXSW last week and went straight into Ardent Studios. As far as South by Southwest goes, we had a blast. Five shows in three days and we didn't mess any of them up too bad. It's always crazy down there but with the help of our tour manager Will we made it through just fine. We have to thank all the folks that came out to see us and the venues for having us. Got to see my little brothers and some old friends... yup, good time all around. Now. Recording. This is our first record for Univeral Republic and we're at Ardent studios in midtown Memphis. This is actually only the second time we've done a full band record in Memphis (That Much Further West was the only other one). I think we made a good choice. We wanted to take our favorite pieces of Memphis music history and combine it with the drunken rock&roll we usually play and see what we came up with. This is gonna be a soulful one folks. We've got a lot of the basic tracking down and now we're getting into the really fun stuff, like Rick Steff's keyboard parts and horns and backup singers. Yup. Backup singers. Don't worry. We're working with a producer named Ted Hutt and he's got a really good idea of how to get this record where it needs to go. We're using a bunch of great Memphis musicians and we're in a studio that has been at the center of a lot of great Memphis recordings... we're in good hands. Can't wait for ya'll to hear this stuff. Everybody in the band is really excited. So hopefully we'll get some pictures up soon from the recording session. Brian's working on some guitar parts right now. Time for me to head back over there and sing a few. Take care out there ya'll. -Ben
  3. Yeah, I honestly don't get the Cleveland love. Can someone explain it to me? I figure it's going to be a lot like last year--there will be a couple of teams in the mid-to-high 80s who will battle for the division till the end. The type of division where it's surprising to see a consistent pick of anybody to win the division.

I just had to pick someone. That division is going to be extremely tight.

  4. So, is it "Cahl - uh - PAHR -ee" (rhymes with Italian squid calimari).

or is it "Cal - uh - PAIR - ee" (kinda like a partridge in a pear tree)... ?

We'll need to know that. Not that we'll say it right, mind you. We pronounce the city in the next county "Vur -sales" (Versailles).

    "PAIR-ee"

  5. Arizona search is focusing on Few

Arizona's coaching search is now centered on Gonzaga's Mark Few.

Multiple sources told CBSSports.com that Arizona used third-party representatives to gauge the interest of Few as early as November at the Old Spice Classic, and that informal conversations continued this past weekend, right after North Carolina eliminated Gonzaga from the NCAA tournament.

One source put it simply: "This is Few's job if he wants it."

    But does Few want it?

A source told CBSSports.com that Few is intrigued by the tradition of Arizona, but that he would have reservations about taking over a situation that could be similar to what Tom Crean inherited at Indiana. In other words, Few has never done anything but win in 10 seasons at Gonzaga, and so losing game after game next season because of a program that has been decimated by departures and a lack of recruiting is something he might balk at.

Also, Few could be hesitant about taking over at Arizona given that there's an ongoing NCAA investigation.

But sources insisted that he'll listen, and that Arizona is talking.
