So Jeff Tweedy, Jay Farrar, and Mike Heidorn walk into a bar...
So a Greek, a Spaniard a Portuguese and an Italian walk into a bar, drink all night and get shtfaced and pass out - who pays the bar bill?
I may puke like a cat.
My cats puke on your cats ...

I have no idea if this is new or not but Pitchfork has an eight part mini-documentary about the making of the Soft Bulletin. I just watched the piece on Race For the Prize and it was pretty interesting.
http://pitchfork.com...-soft-bulletin/
And +2 on the Stephen Drozd appreciation ...
wow, I just watched that and i really was moved by Steven and Michael and Wayne and their feelings about such a great record ... one of my favorites ever

Sorry to ressurect an old one here, but seemed better than a new one just to post this new Rolling Stone interview with Peter gabriel about Genesis:
-
See Peter Gabriel's comments about pnce talking to Phish about doing The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway together
-
Ahh the late 1906's. Great days and a great music scene!
yeh, that ragtime shit was dope
-
you can learn the basic rules in one reading, and learn the game OK in one or two plays -- now getting good and learning the strategies, that is a different thing ...
-
Never played it, but it looks/sounds interesting.... Online - Is it one of those online games where it's free to play, but they lure you in by only letting you go so far without paying etc.?
Not at all, totally free, run by dedicated hobbyists ... no gimmicks, no popups, no bullshit. Here is the best place to play online:
I am "Rancher" there if you ever test it out, but there are several thousand players who frequent, some good some bad
-
Never had one, but then again I'm in Columbus, the home to both White Castle AND Wendy's ...
-
Doubt I'll get the new album ... I got into MMJ by seeing two shows, which were awesome, may see them again in Columbus is if it works out, but I did not get into them through the studio records, so I think I'll pass on this one
-
I've loved this pre-WWI board game since I was a teen. No dice, no cards, just negotiating and ordering. Good times ... anyone else play online or in person?
-
Hey...Love your Gabriel Batwings picture. I'm a huge Genesis fan. Don't see much mention of them around these parts.
yeh, I love the batwings, had em on forever - see my PM to you
love Okkervil River too, so looking forward to this disc -- favorite Okkervil song currently is "Lost Coastlines" but it changes
-
never seen them, I don't gush over them, but man that first album was really good, as was "Mykonos" from the EP (the rest of the EP didn't do as much for me) ... I will be getting this new FF record shortly and am excited, I had kind of semi-forgotten about them
-
My twin brother in DC won't listen to Wilco, The Decemberists, The Flaming Lips, Okkervil River, Stereolab or any band I have liked in the last 10 years
He listens to Bruce Hornsby and old Yes albums ... the last band we had any joint liking of was probably Phish, though he started listening when I was finishing ...

I hope Jenny makes a full and speedy recovery. It seems like they caught it early.
There is a lot of love for the new record which is great to see. I am really enjoying it. It feels like a timeless album and works really well in a vinyl format (i.e two sides of four/five songs). It doesn't overstay its welcome either. Good to see artists not trying to cram too much material onto an album. Just 'cos a CD can hold 80 minutes there's no reason to bung everything on it.
Agreed about Jenny - I get the sense that she is a strong person, though
Love the new album, and hey, I really liked Hazards in a different way too, both really well done in their own elements
The Columbus show a few weeks back was very good, we got "The Tain" opener too, and "The Mariner's Revenge Song" at the end
-
Yeah I'm going to have to give this a listen. Loved the last two records. I am holding off on Circuital until release day but as long as it's beter than Evil Urges I'll be satisfied.
I will get this in a day or two, have been looking forward to it
as for MMJ, loved the two shows I saw, not so much into their recent studio output
-
All the songs are at least a minute too long, and there are too many songs. A few of the songs feel like exact replicas of other songs on the album. If they had cut three songs, and made all the songs shorter, this may have been a fantastic album.
I do agree that some of this is true about "The Suburbs", though
-
Love "Funeral" very much and "The Suburbs" too, I play those discs often ... "Neon Bible" has never clicked with me as a whole though I've spun it a dozen times through.trying to like it. "No Cars Go" and "Keep the Car Running" just aren't inspiring to me. I do love "Antichrist Television Blues" though ...
-
Thanks for the advice. Bought my tickets Monday and I'm looking forward to the show! I also placed an order for the two albums I didn't have in my collection yet. I like to come prepared!
well, good call and good luck ... they put on a very good show and I think the focus will be a on variety of songs and styles from their whole catalog this time, unless I'm plain wrong
-
You don't like rock n roll.
I must be, like, so "post-rock" or something ...
-
Also, it's a little highschoolish to make fun of somebody's appearance.
unfortunately, as the owner of a 16 year old, I can tell you they do worse things than that nowadays ...
-
I wouldn't listen to WTA if it didn't have Jeff Tweedy's voice on it. On the other hand, it's the Wilco album I listen to the least. Fortunately I'm not a strictly album listener. I love to cherry-pick songs from every album and make my own playlists. WTA doesn't give as much to choose from and its songs make my cut list decisions easier.
that is very similar to my approach and how I feel ...
as someone who hasn;t been around these parts in a while, I'll just give my 2 cents without going back to read this whole thread -- I think it was a nice, safe little album with a few good songs, nothing horrible and nothing risky, not bad but not memorable
-
I'm majorly awaiting this ... but bummed at no Ohio shows on the list!
-
Been a big fan for about 5 years now, and I'd absolutely say go see them live as a casual fan. in fact, this may shape up as the perfedct tour to do that as there should be a good mix of their music and not a whole rock opera shoved down your throat ... I will be there at the newly announced Columbus show!
"Rise To Me" is lovely.
ah, yes it is indeed, one of their best ever
-
well, as with every REM album since 1983, I will buy it when it comes out
semi-looking forward to it, hope Peter is right
