Oh I know full well about the audience mics! (I'm a big Umphrey's fan, and they're one of the bands out of that group that also uses them rather generously, especially compared to moe. and Mule). I was using it more to explain the differences between these releases and a mixed for release show.
Didn't mean to imply that you didn't know about the aud mics, was more throwing it out there as an fyi for all. I'm a big Panic fan and I don't think they they use enough of the aud mics in their live streams. The music sounds great, but you don't get that feeling of being there with crowd reaction, etc.

They don't sound like an official live release if you ask me. They definitely sound more like a 2-channel soundboard that was mastered. Just like all the jamband nightly releases (Umphreys, Gov't Mule, Phish, Widespread, moe...) The live albums, like Kicking TV, definitely have been multitracked and fully mixed and mastered which is why the rhythm section has such balls IMO
Generally Stan runs 2 channel soundboard plus a pair of room mics to get the crowd reactions and a bit of a feel for the room. These 4 channels are then mixed down to 2 and mastered for the Roadcase Releases. I believe this method sounds much better than some of the other bands mentioned who are doing straight soundobard mixes with little or no ambiance from mics. You're right, Kicking TV is a totally different beast - full multi track (all individual channels recorded separately) with professional studio mixing, mastering, etc. Way to much of a process to do for regular releases like the Roadcases.

Great review of a great show. Thanks for posting the link.

Unfortunately, it appears as if setlist.fm is missing at least one of the Blue Note club shows. As I mentioned to you last night, I know they played there on 9/14/04 because it was my first time to Columbia and that venue. Calexico opened. It was the kickoff of the fall tour for A Ghost Is Born, and it was a really great show! Check out the setlist on Wilcobase if you don't believe me, but I'll just say that A Magazine Called Sunset and Candyfloss were played in the main set and the last encore was New Madrid and The Lonely 1.
I don't use setlist.fm all that often as a resource because I don't always trust its accuracy. I guess I could probably help them fill in some holes...:-)
I know Wilcobase has evolved with the official band site and isn't completely up to date or accurate either, but it's certainly more reliable than setlist.fm when it comes to Wilco.
They also played the Blue Note on October 6th, 1995 - it was a Friday and Saturday 2 night run. And on Saturday October 7th they played twice - once in the afternoon in front of the Columbia Courthouse and then later in the evening at the Blue Note. I have master recordings of the 10-6-95 Blue Note and 10-7-95 in front of the Courthouse but unfortunately was not able to stick around for the 10-7 night Blue Note show.
Oh yeah, great show last night! I love these Outside on 9th street Wilco Shows.

I've posted a bittorrent of my recording of this one over at bt.etree.org:

Sir, you rock! Are you the taper that always posts the St. Louis shows?
Yes, I do post a fair amount of Wilco and related St. Louis Shows. I've recorded most all of the Wilco shows that have come through STL.

My bittorrent of this show can be found here:

If anyone has an extra poster I would love to take it off of your hands! I went to the Cards game and got to the venue too late to pick one up. I collect art generally just from shows I have been to. If necessary, I would be willing to trade if as well. Fellow expressobean members can see my collection below. Thanks!
FYI, the STL posters have just gone up on their internet store. I just ordered one.

it makes Jack Johnson seem hardcore and edgy.
That is funny stuff right there - and true.

I have not paid all that much attention to Farm Aid since CMT quit broadcasting the show. I have never heard of several of these bands:
Same here.
I'm getting ready to head out the door to the show. Will be recording Wilco but hope someone is also capturing the video feed on Directv and audio on XM and Sirus. Should be fun.

I have a pair of extras in row NN Center section that I'll let go for less than I paid from Live Nation.

How did you do on the Farm Aid pre-sale? I considered signing up but decided to just go for tix on Saturday. Hope there are still some good ones left after the Farm Aid, Cougar and Dave pre-sales this week. Probably not.
-
I was hoping they would be added to Farm Aid. Saw them at Farm Aid '98 which was fun. Unfortunately Farm Aid probably means we won't get a full show in STL this fall. I would be happy with a Columbia, MO show though.

Yeah, it's in the feed. Still damn good quality, especially for as many people are probably watching.
Damn, I was hoping that popping was just in my stream. Pretty annoying in headphones. A hell of a lot better than not hearing any live Wilco right now though.

I see 2 out of the 3 nights...am i just missing the link on bt.etree?
I'll have night 2 up in the next week or so.

My husband and I bought a print pretty early in the day on Thursday. We were shrieking about the design. And yep, there was one other person in there. Sounds like we were probably there at the same time. Wish I had known! I'd wondered where you were in the crowd.
Yep, that was me. I spent most of the first 2 nights right in front of the sbd but moved up to the first drink rail by the other tapers to take pictures several times. Luckily I was up there to get the shot of shirtless guy dancing. Third night I was right by the stands at the drink rail. I'll be sure to say hi next time I see you out.
-
YES!!!! :yay Best pictures EVER!
I had a great view of this guy. We had to be sitting near each other.
I love the body language of the woman on his left.
Hey poppydawn were you buying merch early in the afternoon on Thurs with only one other person in there? I was in there buying a poster but didn't know it was you or I would have said hi.

CASINO QUEEN...YEAH...WOOOO...
Tweedy: Please put your shirt back on sir....
Tweedy: ....no you don't have too.
Tweedy: That's the kind of enthusiasm that will be rewarded in the afterlife.

Man the I'm Always In Love from night 2 sounds ROUGH. Nels' guitar work is really really annoying during the verses. I can't tell if it's intentional or the guitar is just outta tune, but ouch.
I did remember one song that I thought his guitar was out of tune on that night. That must have been the one - will have to take a listen. I was cringing, especially at the beginning.

I know that it is highly unlikely but it doesn't hurt to ask, did any one end up with an extra wrist band that they would part with? Just scheduled a business trip to NY for Thursday and it sure would be great to catch this show while I'm there. If I can get in, I'll bring my recording equipment to capture audio of the show. Still need to finalize and upload my recordings from the STL in-store and night show but I should have those done soon.
