  1. Wish I'd know it was starting a little early...oh well, got 2 tickets Section 112, Row K....not great at all, but was afraid to throw them back and get something worse..

So glad you got tix Joyce!

I scored two tix in the "DANCE" section. I guess that is main floor?

  2. Nothing at all but LOVE for this band, this man called Tweedy, this city and XRT! I can't say enough about these shows. I got to see Saturday and Monday too - and Each one was amazing for various reasons. The highlights last night for me were:

Must Be High, Company in My Back, War on War, Thanks I Get. Hotel AZ, Someday Soon and California Stars.

Even Spiders was inspired beyond anything I've seen. I got a poster last night and it will be prominently displayed in my pad as a reminder of this wonderful Wilco residency in the lovely city of Chicago!

Whoever was that said this is like seeing Ali in his prime is right. :thumbup

I hope everyone has BLAST tonight !! Pieholden Suite -- oh yeah!

  3. I posted some pictures from the balcony here. Looking forward to Monday!

Thanks for these! They are great!! Love the shot of Nels and Pat. :thumbup

What an amazing show, it might be my favorite ever. I thought it started mellow and crescendoed into a night of magic. Jeff's comment: "This is so much better than unpaid rehearsal...woops!" was hilarious. I never thought I'd hear Wake Up Feeling Old (was that a first time played?)or Hotel Az. This band is so on top of their game right now. And how about Tweedy's solo on Man Who Loves You....he's stepping up his game! The Lonely One was so perfect as a closer - outstanding!!

Wilco turns into a loose, soulful guitar army in Millennium Park homecoming

There were moments in recent years when Wilco appeared to be aging gracefully, its concerts proceeding with the refined precision of a middle-aged art-rock band. Pretty, graceful, but somewhat predictable. On one tour, there were even sepia-toned abstract-art videos.

That Wilco was nowhere to be found Wednesday at jam-packed Millennium Park, where the sextet played only the fourth major rock concert at the city

  5. Even though we didn't have tickets...we could hear perfectly right outside the venue - it was the best show I never saw and my favorite Wilco show ever!

Fave Jeff quote of the night - after he prefaced the encore saying this next batch of songs is going to be early wilco, from about 95-96; he added "This is not late model Wilco!" HAHAHA!!!

  6. This is for the people that are comparing Wilco, the Stones, and Dylan. First of all, I saw Dylan 3 nights in a row, with 57 songs in total. 57 SONGS! Of course you're gonna hear Like a Rolling Stone or Highway 61 ect. because out of the many thousands of people in the arenas that he plays, not many are gonna want to hear his version of Delia or whatever. As for the Stones, I think they're pretty much reduced to their hits because of how things played out for them. I saw them last year and when they played any one of their newer songs, the audience was restless and loud. It is extremely hard to change your set list drastically every night. I saw wilco 4 times in the last year, and although Ive heard Jesus Ect., ITTBYH, HMD and all of their bigger hits 4 out of 4 times, I certainly wasn't bored at the shows. I always get something new out of the experience, whether its parts of a song, solos, the crowds reactions ect. Ive also yet to see Wilco play a song half-heartedly, and if there's anything I'm tired of, it's emotionless performances.

Right on about Dylan. That man is always changing it up. And at this juncture, each time he plays a tune it might sound new. :D

As for Wilco, they don't strike me as the type of band that is going to change the set list up all that much which is fine --on the same tour. But this time around I am hoping to hear more new stuff and some other older songs, maybe some other covers. I'd like to hear New Madrid sometime again soon. :D
