  1. yep there was a taper right at the back next to the mixing desk - we chatted before the gigs and he told me they would be awesome recordings!

Damn i waited til now to check... can't wait for this.

  2. YOU WERE NOT IN FRONT OF JOHN THE ENTIRE GIG, YOU WERE IN FRONT OF ME!!! I QUED UP, WITH LOADS OF TIME TO SPARE, JUST SO I COULD GET A GOOD VANTAGE POINT, AND YOU STROLLED STRAIGHT PAST ME JUST COS UR SOME SKY BLOKE!! I WAS LEFT LOOKING AT THE BACK OF UR HEAD INSTEAD!!!!!

That's a little harsh, how many people in here or wilco fans or any other fans for that matter would have turned down his place?

I'm sure it was extremely annoying for you, but you could still hear what was happening, i hope ir didn't ruin an amazing gig for you,

  3. I think somebody was shouting puke for me Jewff at the solo gig in Vicar St last year as well, what a tool.

Shouters rarely piss me off, but the ones at wilco shows do, it's either a) i'll say something smart and jeff will acknowledge me, how cool am i? People love me and think i'm really funny - no we don't please fuck off.

or B) i'll make a demeaning put down and try and provoke a negetive reaction. Seriously why come at all.

True there are genuinely funny moments but they are generally not worth the perpetual shouts of boring individuals looking for there few seconds.

Don't get me stated on the Jesus Etc-ers...

  4. Very special for me on two counts.

1....I was the butt of the Burt Bacharach joke (gobsmacked, yes! embarrassed, double yes!!) - had been right in front of Pat inside the photo pit for the entire show (a favour from the fantastic friendly guys at the venue who knew me)

For the record dude, you do look like Mr. Bacharach!

Great spot i was quite jealous of you all evening, more so after Jeff had his chat with you. I figured you were some form of security.

  5. Kamera--nice. Sounds like a fantastic show. Thanks for taking the time to share the little details; I get to be there just a little bit that way.

    I rarely post.

Last night was the best gig i have ever been to. I'm 27. I've seen alot of amazing shows. I'll hopefully see alot more amazing shows. If some of them come close to that i'll be happy.

To everyone that was there i hope you enjoyed it as much as i did.

Highlights- Casino Queen for the energy and the other side- On and on and on. Simply beautiful.

    Thanks Wilco.

  6. Yeah its an awesome venue, smaller than where they've played before in Ireland, i guess thats why its 2nights, theres also nowhere in the place with a bad view,. Prob pics and stuff of it on the net, i know it has its own site, google Vicar Street I guess, its a place that usually has small gigs and comedians

You're a little bit off, the last wilco headline gig in Ireland was in Whelans in 98 (i think) i know they played oxegen a couple of years back but that hardly counts.

In the opposite of the OP i'd love to see them at a huge venue with loads of fans ( and be right up the front)

Wilco are not that well known in Ireland as stated above but there's a good few fans, I'd say both nights will sell out relatively quick, t

  7. I love Tom Waits. And I love how he dealt with VW.

I still love Wilco. It's their music, they can do what they want with it, i'm happy as long as they keep making it.

If people really want to be concerned over them, ask them about their carbon emmissons from flying Australia - Europe - America - Europe this summer and bringing all that gear with them.

I'm more worried about this than maybe hearing a wilco song when i turn on the tv.

    OK

  8. i missed the majority of both of these because quicktime decided to screw up on me out of nowhere :(

but it's good to read all the commentary on here :)

Thats sums up quicktime! Twas an awesome show though... Nels rocked.

  9. My two cents: I've only listened to it a few times, i like it, it hasn't grabbed me the same way AGIB did but that album really suited me when it came out. I love it.

Sky Blue Sky has a different pace to it. It's not as edgy or aggressive. It's a turn of direction once more which impresses me most about Wilco. I love how they always try and progress and not stagnate. As people have pointed out there is an old rock feel to it ala the band but i think thats a good time. I like Nels guitar alot, simply as it shakes things up, people say it's a little over the top. If it wasn't i think the album at times would fade into obscurity and just not have the same punch. I often find the little things that are slightly out are the things i enjoy most after a few weeks.

    Here's a quote/paraphrase some will recognise.

You have to sit with it for a while.

  10. I love how AGIB runs together... the main one that sticks out is Late Greats, i always play the first 5-6tracks straight through as i love knowing what song is next and how it builds...

I also love when the guitar comes in on At Least That... If could hear one song again for the first time it would be this one.

  11. I think he means black eye like "it sucks real bad," not Tweedy's Black Eye song.

    Which I heartily disagree with.

Me too i love spiders. I love most of AGIB, not overly fond of hell is chrome...

    Interesting thread, keep em coming...

  12. 3 nights - they're not that popular over-here!!!

Well if not 3 london nights i'd say it'll be one other UK date, like last time they played london and nottingham... Still have a little hope for an irish date but i think it'll be 2 nights in Shep bush at least and a night off...
