  1. Dirt - Lou Reed

Its been a long time, since Ive spoken to you

    Was it the right time

Your current troubles, and you know, theyll get much worse

I hope you know how much you enjoy them

Youre a pig of a person, if theres a justice in this world

    Hey, how about that

Your lack of conscience and your lack of morality

Well, more and more people know all about it

Do you remember that song by a dude named bobby fuller

    It went like this:

I fought the law and the law won

I fought the law and the law won

We sat around the other night, me and the guys

Trying to find the right word

That would best fit and describe

    You people like that

That no principle has touched, no principles baptized

    How about that

Theyd eat shit and say it tasted good

If there was some money in it for them

Hey, you remember that song about this guy from texas

Whose name was --- bobby fuller

Ill sing it for you, it went like this:

I fought the law and the law won

I fought the law and the law won

    Youre just dirt

Youre just dirt, the only word for you is dirt

Thats the only word that -

    - hurt, youre just dirt

Thats all youre worth - cheap, cheap dirt

You know they call it -

Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, uptown dirt

Youre just - cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, uptown dirt

Youre just dirt - nothing but - cheap uptown dirt

Thats all youre worth - its just - cheap, cheap, uptown dirt

Thats all youre worth now (cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, uptown dirt)

Youre just dirt (cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap uptown dirt)

(cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, uptown dirt)

(cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, uptown dirt)

(cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, uptown dirt)

  2. How long did Buckner play?

Did he play songs off all albums, or did he focus on his new stuff?

He played about an hour and a half. He emphasized Meadow, but a had a few from Dents and Shells and Devotion and Doubt.

  3. He played with the full band in St. Louis Saturday. Six Parts finished up their set and appeared to start packing up their stuff. They disappeared and then came back when Buckner took the stage. Interesting backing band for him -- a little more subdued than the backing band on Meadow, but still good.

Was funny watching three giddy sorority girls trying to dance to Buckner. Even Beatle Bob was not going near that.

  4. I would adore anyone who could watch that video and figure out Duet #3. That would be the most incredible thing, and I know there are people on the board who are capable. Please!

It's straight drop D. Your turn.

  5. Tom Waits - The Day After Tomorrow

    I got your letter today

And I miss you all so much, here

I can't wait to see you all

And I'm counting the days, dear

I still believe that there's gold

At the end of the world

    And I'll come home

    To Illinois

    On the day after tomorrow

    It is so hard

    And it's cold here

And I'm tired of taking orders

And I miss old Rockford town

    Up by the Wisconsin border

But I miss you won't believe

    Shoveling snow and raking leaves

And my plane will touch tomorrow

    On the day after tomorrow

    I close my eyes

    Every night

And I dream that I can hold you

They fill us full of lies

    Everyone buys

About what it means to be a soldier

I still don't know how I'm supposed to feel

About all the blood that's been spilled

    Look out on the street

    Get me back home

    On the day after tomorrow

    You can't deny

    The other side

    Don't want to die

    Any more than we do

    What I'm trying to say,

    Is don't they pray

To the same God that we do?

Tell me, how does God choose?

    Whose prayers does he refuse?

    Who turns the wheel?

    And who throws the dice

    On the day after tomorrow?

    Mmmmmmm...

    I'm not fighting

    For justice

    I am not fighting

    For freedom

    I am fighting

    For my life

    And another day

    In the world here

I just do what I've been told

You're just the gravel on the road

And the one's that are lucky

    One's come home

    On the day after tomorrow

    And the summer

    It too will fade

And with it comes the winter's frost, dear

And I know we too are made

Of all the things that we have lost here

    I'll be twenty-one today

I've been saving all my pay

And my plane will touch down

    On the day after tomorrow

And my plane it will touch down

    On the day after tomorrow

  6. Buckner/Bachman played the Lou tonight. Buckner is on his game. Meadow is great and he must have played 4-5 track off of it. He is solo with Doug Gillard formerly of Guided by Voices on guitar, who adds a tasty color/counterpoint to Mr. Buckner.

Would have liked to see him come out once more for an encore . . . . but . . . .?

  7. I saw Lucinda and Pettibone earlier this year play it. He played it onsomething that looked like an electric mando with 8 or more strings. Had a very jangly sound.

As for a tab of the riff or riffs, I can't help you. Sorry.

  8. Has anyone heard the new Orange combos? I wasn't even aware that they still made amps, but I saw a 30 and a 50 watt combo at a music store the other day. They were very pricey; can't remember exactly how much, but it was certainly more than a new AC-30 is going for.

If you are talking about the Orange AD-30TC, I've got one and love it. Can't help you with the Rockerverb, but word is they are more versatile. Pricewise, the AD-30TC is on par with a new AC-30 with the Celestion Blue speakers (about $1500-1600 new).

  9. Wow, funny I was just thinking about that last night. Uncanny. :omg

I concluded awhile ago that he was using an open G (DBDGBD - low to high), but then I recalled seeing somewhere that he was using a variation on open G . I could not find that in relation to the lap steel, but I found this in an interview with respect to open tuning on standard guitar:

"The guitar I’ve played on virtually everything for the past nine years is a ’59 Jazzmaster,” says Cline. “It still has the original pickups and hardware, but just about everything else has been replaced. I also play a Jerry Jones 12-string and a Baritone, as well as a candy-apple red ’66 Fender Electric XII, and a Hagstr
