  1. My pre-freshman-year-at-college summer job is working for a high end acoustic guitar shop here in town. We're breedlove dealers and we finally got in a OOO just like tweedy plays (adirondack top/rosewood back and sides) and let me tell you, even though i am biased, it is hands down my most favorite guitar to play. Not only do I get to compare to a ton of other nice acoustics, i've sampled quite a few fine guitars in my 18 years alive. I must say, if you have the cash to shell out for a Breedlove revival series 000, DO IT. Here's the OOO we have: Port City Guitars- Breedlove OOO

how's that for a dream job?! And I'm only 18!!

  2. I'm gonna get there as soon as I can. I wont be in the city until 2ish and I have to go pick up my ticket from a very nice person from craiglist, but then right after that i'm gonna head over to the venue to "check the scene." I'll probably just bring a book and chill too. I don't have anywhere else to be and I definitely want to be right up front!

  3. one of the most remarkable things about pat is this:

i've been to several wilco shows and sometimes i will bring a friend who has absolutely no idea who the band is or what they sound like. by the end of the night, not only are they in love with Wilco ("holy crap...I have a new favorite band!") but they can't seem to stop commenting about the awesomeness of pat. this has happened on two seperate occasions with two seperate friends.

one time at a show, one of my friends who was being introduced to wilco was so overcome with love for pat, he shouted "I LOVE YOU PAT" in between songs at a quiet part. Pat looked a little startled...I guess he's not used to being as praised as some of the other band members.

However, as this thread declares, Pat should receive every cent of credit. He is a fantastic musician and a vital part of Wilco.

    Long live Pat!!

  4. Holy Shit...by some act of God, I just scored a GA floor ticket for this show on Craiglist....FOR FACE VALUE. #%^&&*)*#@*(^*#^... I guess all my stressing out and obsessive searching for a ticket finally paid off! I'm so excited right now....

In other news, what time do you think I should get in line to get up in the front?

  5. wow, i've seen wilco quite a bit, but that show was FANTASTIC. one thing that really stood out to me was how great the sound was. jeff even commented on it at one point. the clarity in the mix was just outstanding. here are some other bulleted highlights (since i'm not really in long paragraph mode right now) :

-i took one of my friends and fellow musician to the show. he had VERY little experience with wilco's music. truthfully, he had no idea what to expect. he told me he was still really randomly excited. by the end of the night, my friend, who i never would have imagined liking wilco, told me "oh my god...i have a new favorite band. that was the best thing ever!" :D

-we were some of the first people to arrive. we took our pretty decent seats in the center section on the floor, but then a taper approached us about switching seats so he could tape. we were instantly upgraded to the fourth row for free!

-um, Wilco is better than ever! I was hoping for some old Wilco chesnuts and they surely delivered with Sunken Treasure, CA Stars, and I'm Always in Love.

-did I mention how awesome everything sounded??

-after the show me and my friend waited by the buses and we got to meet Jeff and Nels. They were so kind to their fans too! They had intent conversations with everyone, asked questions, etc. I gave Jeff a hug (!!) :hug (yes, it looked like that..) and got a picture with him. Its cool to know that jeff isn't a "dick" like all those frisbee golf players....haha...Then I had a pretty good conversation with Nels about releasing the shows he did at Largo with Jon Brion (one of which I was fortunate to celebrate my 17th birthday at!) He said he'd love to get the stuff out because its pretty awesome, but he doesnt know when. I told Nels I'd see him in NYC on Monday and he was like "you're going to one of those shows?!" And I proceeded to tell him how I was moving there (I'll be a freshman at NYU this fall and my orientation just happens to be the week of the NYC Wilco shows...) Nels seemed very happy with this and labeled me as "super rad" He also instructed me to tell my parents they are "super rad" too for letting me go to all these cool shows and he would look for me in NYC :thumbup

-hey look I'm a hypocrite....i did the big paragraph thing anyways!

-all in all, I feel incredibly lucky to get to have such experiences with such a supreme band. We're all so fortunate to have a band to worship like Wilco!! :worship

  6. I'm going to Hammerstein! I'm so so so so excited, it's my very first Wilco show! I really want to give Jeff a hug, I wish there were some way I could make that happen.

Oh, I know how you could make that happen! Its easy! Just give me your ticket or a ticket to the show. I will line up early so I can get up at the very front. I will center myself and stand in front of Tweedy. Maybe if I get lucky, during "Hummingbird" or something, Jeff can reach out and grab my hand or at least make really solid eye contact with me. After the show, since I would have made contact with Jeff to some degree, I will allow you to hug me. This would probably be the easiest way for your dreams to come true. Of course, the whole giving me a ticket part is imperative :thumbup

Ok sorry, not having a ticket to this show has caused me to go a bit insane :ohwell . I'm just glad that I'm already going to another show on 6/26 so I dont have to stress about the Warsaw show too. Damn you, scalpers...

  7. Well, this is sad. I've been relentlessly trying Craig's list but am having little luck over there too. I'm determined to see my favorite band in the world, but I'm not really sure what to do. In all honesty I may just make a pathetic little sign and show up to the venue early and wait there all day. I just got paid yesterday and have reserved my entire paycheck ( :o ) for the "Wilco Hammerstein Ticket Fund," but even though I have the money now, I can't seem to find anyone who wants to sell a ticket under $200. Any ideas? People who are currently experiencing the same issue, feel free to complain. We should start a support group!

  8. So obviously posting a wanted ad in How to Fight Loneliness isn't going to do a thing and all the ticket broker websites are currently selling Hammerstein tickets for like $300. My question is, will there be people outside the venue before the show selling tickets? I know the box office probably won't, but I didnt know if people will be chilling outside selling them. I'm guessing if anyone, the people selling tickets outside will be the same evil ticket brokers trying to sell them for $300, but I'm really reallllly hoping I can score one ticket for a reasonable price. I'll be headed up to NYC from Borth Carolina for my college orientation for NYU that day and going to this show would pretty much make my life complete. So who thinks its a possibility I could get in without having to spend $300?

P.S.- sorry if this was an ignorant/idiotic post. I'm not quite sure what the scene will be like

  9. Wooohoooooo.....I just got a P&C!! I bought it at 30th Street Guitars in NYC. For those of you looking for one, give them a call. I think they had multiple in stock. I'm home now so I've been trying it out and its just fricking awesome. I'm really happy. Its seems pretty dang versatile too. I'll post a more in depth review later on.

  10. Hey I'll be in NYC next week too! Good times! I always hit up 30th Street Guitars, Ludlow Street Guitars, Matt Umanov Guitars, and the whole slew of music shops on West 48th Street (a few blocks from Times Sqaure.) A particular highlight on W. 48th is Rudy's...everything else is like Sam Ash and other generics. Manny's is O.K. If you're really into acoustic stuff (as well as tasty vintage electric stuff), hop the free ferry to Staten Island and take the bis to Mandolin Brothers. Its hands down one of the coolest music stores EVER. Tons and tons of nice instruments and they let you play absolutely ANYTHING you want to. Its a little bit of a trip, but so, so, sooo worth it.

socbret- When in Nashville, you can check out Gruhn's Guitars on Broadway, but its not exactly the most fun place to shop for an instrument. Cotten Music on 21st Avenue is an awesome place for mostly acoustic guitars. They're really helpful and nice there. Highly recommended. For electric stuff, check out Rockblock guitars and Corner Music.

For info on all the stores listed above, use Google :-P

Good guitar stores are the greatest!
