Also a lot of those legging tights with no feet...'80s too. No one looked good in them back then and they still don't...

Happy (belated) Birthday to one of the nicest folks in the whole wide world!
It's always so reassuring to me to see you at the front of that Wilco line...

Just was listening to Yo La Tengo's version of the Only One's "The Whole Of The Law" in the car...
Lovely.

DeKalb is my hometown.
A sad day, my heart goes out to all the people there and their families. Most everyone I know have been accounted for, thankfully.
I'm just letting this all soak in. There have been growing tensions on campus lately. I'm waiting to see more information about the motive for this.
My hometown too...and my daughter is working on a Masters at NIU now. I had no idea it had happened until she called me to tell me she was safe...

I can't recommend a gallery appropriate for your work but a good place to go for info on Chicago art galleries is:
http://www.chicagogallerynews.com/
They provide links to gallery web sites so you can check out what artists/types of work they represent. In general I'd say the River North area galleries represent more established/conservative work. The West Loop and North/Bucktown/Wicker galleries show more up and coming contemporary work.

I wasn't there and you were, so your report must be correct (unless you want to argue with the guy who said they got little attention.)
LouieB
Oh no Louie, I wasn't disagreeing with you...just wanted you to know that I didn't get the same vibe as the other person. I hope they get a good reception in other cities!

I hope so..I think they deserve it...but I have seen Wilco fans be pretty rude to many an opening group.
See the Davenport group..someone reported that no one listened to them.
LouieB
I really wouldn't agree with that...I thought for an opening band they did get folks' attention in a positive manner. It was pretty sparse in there at first anyway. I thought they did a really good set... the sound and intensity built up and by the time they were done people were paying attention and clapping for them.

Sorry if I was harsh, dude. However, kudos on your choice of avatar. Leonardson Saratoga was which member of Golden Smog?
Jeff Tweedy? Or was it Murphy?
Noah Levy
Tweedy = Scot Summit
Murphy = David Spear
Louris = Michael Macklyn
Perlman = Raymond Virginia
Johnson = Jarret Decatur
Mars = Eddie Garfield

This one? Because this one scares me a lot:
Yes that's the one...whoever photoshopped made all their eyes black (irises/pupils) so they look like mutants. The other photos everyone has their normal eye color.
-
All their eyes are black in the photo on page 12 and it scares me....

Thanksgiving Eve...1994 I think...Lounge Ax
As you know...me too! That was November 23, 1994. My first Tweedy solo show was December 29, 1994 at Lounge Ax. I was obviously hooked since I'm still here
-
That's my brand spanking new Martin Devin is playing in the above pic. Woohoooo!
Speaking of Neil Young...didn't Jeff play a little of "Walk On" at one point?
-
That Danelectro/Silvertone has been some places and seen some stuff! Very Cool.
LOL...You know it didn't even cross my mind that it was the same one in that particular photo. Duh. They never told me anything about it other than it was hanging out in their space. I love the Mr. Magoo puffy sticker on it....

I Am The Cosmos - Chris Bell
1000 Miles From Nowhere - Dwight Yoakam
Jonathan David - Belle & Sebastian
Settled Down Like Rain - The Jayhawks...
...You packed up your bags and belongings
And crept out through the back
The sound of footprints on the ground
Your words hung high in the rafters
And settled down like rain
Remain happy ever after
Happy ever after
*sob*

Ah, Thanksgiving and Wilco. Too bad its not at the Riviera like the good old days.
Too bad it isn't Lounge Ax like the good old days.
-
louris didn't write corvette did he? i though that was a perlman song
It was written by the band for a car commercial...not sure who had the most hand in it but it sounds a lot like a Dan Murphy type song. "Jumpin' Jack Flash" was ultimately used in the commercial.

Well just threw up a handful of my not so great photos on a web page Go to:
http://www.sidewalkserfergirl.com/Odds/jeff/basement.html
And I too want to thank one and all for the wonderful evening and especially Sooz, Sam, Paul, Chandler, Mart, Dave and last but not least Jeff and Sue. Like I told Sooz as I was leaving I have nothing to look forward to now! It was truly a great time for an even greater cause. Rock on....
PS: Thanks Wendy for being the oldest! I know I'm a bit older than Sue but maybe I just look 16 because of the braces....

The purchase page didn't show up for me either until almost 10 after and I was using Firefox. I've never had that happen before. Ended up in the upper balcony (this was with xrt pre-sale). Just happy to get a seat!
