lizish
Have gone local for food, but never local for music. Before completely removing some invisible chip on my shoulder, I started to realize that some of the residents of my home town have talent. Case in point, Basia Bulat. Basia released her first cd on Rough Trade in England/Euro last April and September sees Oh My Darling come out on Hardwood records (Cuff the Duke, Wayne Petti) for us Hosers and Yankees. Chromewaves and Said the Gramophone love her and I (hic) finally clued in. Part of the attraction, beyond the unique voice, great lyrics and wonderful orchestration is that she seems to be right out of a Busbee Berkely musical, you know, the 'Hey I can sing, you can play Viola, let's start a band' enthusiasm that you only get at 18. Give her a try. http://www.myspace.com/basiamyspace Anyway, why am I writing you with just another myspace type prompt? Well, Basia's touring with Owen 'Final Fantasy' Pallet through the states in October. I'm not a huge fan of Pallet, but I'd go see the opener and consider sticking around: Basia Bulat11 Oct 2007 20:00The Firehouse w/ FINAL FANTASY INDIANAPOLIS12 Oct 2007 20:00Schubas w/ FINAL FANTASY CHICAGO13 Oct 2007 20:007th Entry w/ FINAL FANTASY MINNEAPOLIS Ta ta.
