stickman
Anyone heard them before? Great little band that no one really seems to know about. I really like their album When the Going Gets Dark. It's a shame they aren't really doing it anymore...
LouieB
I think they were at the Hideout Block Party last year... LouieB
JeffTweedysFatStomach
If you like "When The Going Gets Dark" you should really check out "Featuring Birds" and "The Sword of God". Quasi are one of my favorite bands. Coomes is so clever with his pessimism. Gotta love it. Also, this is one of the greatest album covers of all time.
stickman
Oh I've got those three and Field Studies and R&B Transmogrification as well. And the only cover that beats Hot Shit! would be this:
SarahC
i just got one of their records today off emusic free trial thing... really digging it so far. i love all the sonic layers on some tracks. i've known about them because they were sort of elliott smith's backing band in '99-'

stickman
Haha. Yeah good call. I'm glad that one of your two posts is in this here Quasi thread...makes me feel all warm when I find another Quasi fan because it seems there aren't enough around, ya know. Anyway more concrete info is supposedly March 5th for the record and then a tour following that. Maybe they will open for the Jicks? Just a guess on that part.
aaroncooper
yeah i saw "quasi" as a thread title and was like, 'wait a second. that can't be about the sam and janet quasi', but it was... opening for the jicks? that would be pretty awesome.
stickman
So anybody heard anything on a new album? Or been to any shows recently? Hot Shit! is on repeat for me right now. Turns out after a quick little search on the Google I found that once the Jicks wind down after promoting their record, Quasi'll be back in the studio so it's looking like the fall of this year. But if you head over to Daytrotter they have a session they did in April that has a couple of new tunes. Worth checking out!
