W(TF)
upon further inspection I think the surface of my turntable is uneven.... Now THAT's weird. What turntable? I see warps in at least half of the new LP's I buy, but most of it's minor enough that my clamp can flatten it ok.
wilcohead
what do you mean your clamp?
Guest Alan
yeah, my White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan is warped, both records. and i just bout Vitalogy yesterday and it is also warped slightly.
W(TF)
what do you mean your clamp? Many of the better 'tables have some sort of a clamping system - usually a threaded spindle and a gizmo like this. You clamp the record down before you start playing it. (the small thing is a spacer that sits under the record, it helps the clamp be a bit more effective)
LouieB
Vinyl records are plastic. Warping could occur anywhere in the process from manufacturing to shipping to storage. A decent turntable should be able to handle a minor warp. LouieB
