lizish
Saw the Constantines last night at LOLA fest. First time seeing them in probably 4 or 5 years and in short, they were great - especially the Shine a Light songs. Half the concert was new, with the explanation that they're currently recording. Generally the new stuff seemed slower than the relentless attack of Young Lions or Night/Anytime, more in a Tournament of Hearts vein. But, like whatever the song was that got played just before the encore, this band has an awesome new release in the pipeline. Loved that Webb brought his out his grandfather and mentioned that the man had been partially responsible for making the York Street Hotel (aka Call The Office) into home for such acts as the Demics and the Nihilist Spasm Band. Also liked Webb's quick reminisces of seeing Kim Mitchell and April Wine on the same stage as a teenager. I guess 70s Canrock never really will die, but just get resurrected without irony by the Cons, John Rae and the River , Ladyhawk and Pride Tiger. (insert bad cell phone picture here that does not capture the dives from the keyboards and amplifiers onto the hard, hard concert stage - sort of like this one:)
