stooka
It had been 3 years since The Gourds last payed us a visit. This was the end of a five night stint before a break and back down to the Hill Country. They didn't show any tired legs last night as they proceeded to get the Golden Light hoppin'. They payed quite a bit of new material off of Nobel Creatures. Cranky Mulatto and Spivey were exceptionally good.I read the multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston is Michelle Shocked's brother and he was also in Uncle Tupelo and Wilco. He was quite good on fiddle and slide guitar. We visited with several members of the band after the show, who were all very kind in sharing some stories with us.

I saw these guys a few months back in Louisville and I thought they put on a great show. Very entertaining.
