dmait
Though I like the topics Alex Rawls covers, I rarely agree with his opinions. http://www.offbeat.com/magazine/poplife.php "Other Voodoo thoughts - A friend wondered if Wilco (who has played Jazz Fest) is "a little short in the connecting with people department," a fair question. Since I value how Wilco expands the vocabulary of pop, including dissonance and dynamics without seeming bloodless. Jeff Tweedy's lyrics are elusive, but they're not word soup. It's a more complex vision of pop, but as much as I enjoyed it, it did seem a little fussy at times. Many songs built to a powerful, cacophonous ending, but the one that stayed with me was "Impossible Germany," with a three guitar rave-up ending that got lovelier rather than noiser - probably something the set could use a little more of." craigwinn
well, it's a collection of words, alright, but i prefer it when paragraphs make sense, and advance an argument. this is gibberish.
the_fliz1
Thanks for the link. Is it just me or does it seem like the person who wrote the article also wrote the dialog for the adult characters in Peanuts. Wah wah, wah wah wah wah.
dmait
I completely agree with both of you. The guy's opinions drive me crazy.
Bubs101
I like the way he says Jeff's lyrics aren't word soup, and then, out of love for the reader, demonstrates what it is
