Three dollars and 63 cents
Cryptogramophone Records will be at the Jazz Standard in New York City April 23-25 for its second-annual Cryptonights Festival. Nels told me about this in Philadelphia a few weeks ago. He was so excited about it that he started talking really quickly, and it took me a few weeks to put all the pieces together. There's no information on the Crypto website or on Nels's site yet, but the tickets are already onsale. Wednesday's schedule is a set by the Jeff Gauthier Goatette at 7:30 and a duo by Nels and his brother Alex at 9:30. Thursday features sets by the Nels Cline Singers at 7:30 and 9:30. Friday will be a set by the Scott Amendola Band at 7:30 and sets by the Nels Cline Singers at 9:30 and 11:30. Nels plays with both Jeff Gauthier and Scott Amendola's groups, so that means seven chances to see him play in three days! Tickets are on sale through Ticketweb. The Wednesday and Thursday sets are $25 apiece, and the Friday sets are $30 each. These are looking like the only east coast shows for the Singers in the foreseeable future, so don't miss out! I'm pretty sure I'm coming down for the Friday night sets. I'd be interested in meeting up with anyone else who's going.
Three dollars and 63 cents
I'm giving this a bump since it's coming up this week. Is anybody else going? I'll be there for all three sets Friday night. Their week at the Jazz Standard is to celebrate Crypto's 10th anniversary, as well as the release of their 10th anniversary compilation. There are also shows on Saturday and Sunday, but it doesn't look like Nels will be taking part in those.
