Panther
In highschool I got into YHF , I thought they were a wierd band but I l8iked the sound and I was getting into weird music at the time. Its funny cause now YHF sounds so acessible to me. then I bought Being There which I thought was a great rock record and I started to understand what kind of band they were then I saw them live and bought everything else. AGIB was coolat first but it really took me over a year to get it, when I did it became my favrite Wilco record. At first I was just really upset that they didnt make another pop record I was into allot of Belle and Sebastian at the time.
PorterQStout
A college roommate got me hooked on Wilco. In return, I got him in to Mike Watt, which oddly enough becomes entirely relevant. He had A.M., Summerteeth and Mermaid Avenue. I was in a stage of Watt hero-worship due to being big in to Contemplating the Engine Room (which is still among my most favoritest albums) which Nels Cline played on, and seeing that tour with Cline on board. When we moved apart, I realized that I really missed those albums, and picked them up, along with Being There, which is I think, still my favorite Wilco album. When Yankee Hotel Foxtrot came out, I wasn't crazy about it. I liked some of the songs, but I had a big kneejerk reaction against Heavy Metal Drummer. That song irritated me to no end. Kind of wandered off from the band. Got Ghost when it came out, liked it the first time I heard it. Both discs disappeared in a move, got knicked or something. Never got around to replacing them. Thought about getting back in to Wilco off and on. Got curious about The Gourds and went to see them after finding out they acquired a former Uncle Tupelo / Wilco member. Turned in to a huge Gourds fan. Got curious about Wilco again when I heard that they acquired Nels Cline. Didn't get around to checking out Sky Blue Sky until I made plans to see them in Bend. Picked up Yankee, Ghost, and Sky. Dig all three now. I spent a long moment at the Wilco show staring at Nels Cline and remembering how much Wilco and Watt meant to me for a whole era of my life, and how great the Watt show was, and how happy I was to be seeing Wilco, and how odd it was that Cline should be there, bringing Watt and Wilco together. So, yeah, I was a lapsed Wilco fan for a while, but it's cool as reconnecting with them and turning back in to a fan has been a lot of fun in itself.
