Have we been duped?? Fake tickets??

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow Wilco fans. We just ordered 2 tickets for the Portland show at Arlene Schnitzer concert hall on 2/9/10. Ordered the tickets through stubhub, and received them promptly in 2 days via fedex. Tickets were put out by Ticketmaster and look legit, except for the fact that the website listed under Wilco's name on the face of the ticket is "www.wilco.com" (a company in Switzerland, self-proclaimed "world leader in leak detection"), rather "wilcoworld.net".

Does anyone else have ticketmaster tickets to the Portland show with the similar website listed? Or have we been duped? We're flying from Springfield Illinois to Portland for the show...don't want to be locked out at the last minute.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I hope you get confirmation from someone here, but I'd wager that since StubHub is legit and the tix say Ticketmaster, that someone there cut a corner when they were supposed to print Wilco's correct website.

I've sold Wilco tickets (Purdue show in 07) through Stub Hub and I'd advise you to contact Stub Hub.

So they are hard tickets, but with a different website under the venue info etc?

Hmm, odd. It may be someone that f'ed up at TM. (as said by Sir Stewart above)

There is a slim chance that they are fakes and someone sly thought that Wilco's site was in fact Wilco.com.

But that's one problem with Stub Hub, you don't know who you buy from until it comes in the mail.

Is there a return address on the envelope?

I don't remember what the envelope is supposed to say, since I sent out my Purdue tickets in 2007.

I only remember printing up their name and maybe not putting mine on.

You could also try to get ahold of TIcketmaster and ask them what their printout looks like for that specific show.

It sounds crazy but give it a try. I assume a computer prints tickets not a real person, so have them check what their ticket printout should look like.

I checked that Arlene S venue site and at the bottom it lists the official Wilcoworld.net site.

I also tried to buy tickets via TM to see what it would say, but it was sold out.

THanks for the replies. I'm hoping someone "f'ed" up at TM and printed out the incorrect website. Called Ticketmaster; they gave me the cold shoulder since I wasn't the original ticket purchaser. They couldn't (wouldn't) tell me what the tickets looked like either. I also called Stubhub and they tried to call both the venue and TM and came up with zilch. I'm hoping someone on these boards has tickets to the Wilco show and can confirm whether their tickets also have the incorrect website listed on the ticket or not...

It's Stubhub's responsibility. They guarantee the validity of all tickets they sell, and they should be able to contact the person who listed them for sale. I suggest escalating the issue with stubhub.
