Wilco -- 2/17/10, Saskatoon, SK

Recommended Posts

The show was excellent. We only caught the last Califone song (Giving Away the Bride) and it was really cool.

I've only seen Wilco twice before, but I can say this was the best show yet. The entire band seemed to be in fine form. They hadn't played Saskatoon since 1997, when they came through with the Tragically Hip's traveling Canadian music festival, Another Roadside Attraction. Jeff made mention of this and even referred to the audience as "fresh meat" when we didn't hit the screaming cues in one song. I was kind of embarrassed that we as an audience were so, um, polite... but we really warmed up to the band in the last half of the show, and I think Wilco really enjoyed playing to a room full of people who, for the most part, were newbies. Also, the fact that everyone was sitting in their seats until the encore probably didn't help the energy level. Anyway, I loved the show and the setlist was excellent

I Must Be High

Really? If so, that'd be one they haven't done in quite a while (the second night of the residency, according to Wilcobase, and then before that not as a band since before Nels and Pat joined). That'd be a nice little nugget! :thumbup

Thanks for the report. Glad someone made it to Saskatoon. Really wish I had been able to.

Oh, and I think your picture is actually from the intro to I'm The Man Who Loves You. ;)

That's right, I think it was I'm the Man Who Loves You! I added it to the list.

And yes, Tweedy let us know that they hadn't played I Must Be high in a long time.

i have seen wilco a dozen or so times and this was def one of the best shows that i have seen. they were tight. a lot of great songs, loved the handshake drugs to via chicago six song micro-set. they have an interesting stage and use the lights and the textured background well to create different moods. as bands look for new revenue streams, they are turning to smaller centres. saskatoon, population 250,000 is one of them. lets hope they come back here every few years. show was not sold out, but 90% full in a 2700 seat venue.
