Scott Gyrrr
Don't know if anybody posted this already.Video link From last September By Juliet Speedy A Cromwell dog is certainly not his owner’s best friend after he crashed the man’s ute into a cafe in the small Otago township. “The man went into a shop, left his truck running, left his dog in there and he got a bit excited,” says cafe owner Jacynda Wallace. Wilco, the Staffordshire-Ridgeback cross jumped on the column shift and put the ute into drive, ploughing straight into the cafe. John Aitken of Ellisons Aluminium says they have fixed a lot of quirky things, but have “never had to worry about fixing a door that a dog has driven a truck through”. “All the bi-folding doors are going to have to be replaced and it’s going to take about three weeks so it’s going to be pretty pricey,” says Wallace. And although it was an unusual day for the local police, Senior Constable John Chambers says it was an easy one to code. “In the case of arrest we use a K-9 code, probably could be deemed quite appropriate in this case”. Police say this incident highlights the dangers of leaving pets or children unattended in a vehicle. The dog owner had just moved to Cromwell from Auckland but he and Wilco were laying low today. “Poor guy, I think he feels pretty embarrassed,” said Wallace. Police have decided not to lay charges, saying the dog had his tail between his legs and knew he had done wrong. 3 News
