Al.Ducts
I've really enjoyed the instrumental disc that came with deluxe edition of Andrew Bird's most recent album, Noble Beast. It is called Useless Creatures and apparently it is getting its own release now. Along with this news I found out today that Wilco's very own Glenn Kotche recorded this instrumental album with Bird and bassist Todd Sickafoose. Here's the story: "If you bought the deluxe edition of Noble Beast, the album that beloved whistling singer-songwriter Andrew Bird released last year, you also got a companion-piece disc of instrumental music titled Useless Creatures. On October 25, Fat Possum will release Useless Creatures on its own for the first time. (Bella Union will release it in the UK.) Bird calls Useless Creatures his "ambient experimental record," and he recorded it with Wilco's Glenn Kotche and bassist Todd Sickafoose. In other Bird news, this December, he will reprise his solo tour based around the Dutch concept of Gezelligheid for a second year. First, he'll play a few European shows, including a date in Lisbon that also features a lecture about the creative process. All tour dates below. Bird and artist Jay Ryan also recently designed a shirt for the Yellow Bird Project. Proceeds benefit Pegasus Special Riders, which 'provides therapeutic horse riding activities for adults and children with special needs.'" http://pitchfork.com/news/40107-andrew-bird-releases-instrumental-album-tours/
