I was going to spare my fellow VCers from self-promotional spam, but when the day after a show you see they've written a review and then you head off to do a radio interview there comes a certain degree of self-affirmation which makes you believe for a brief moment that the spamming is ok.

The review: http://www.therakeandherald.tv/culture/culturestory.php?id=159

The record label page: http://www.halfeaten.com/

Personally, I came a long time ago, met a local girl and you can figure out the rest. As a band we're based here because we all live here. It might seem surprising, but theres actually a fantastic international music scene here,

The interview will be on Radio Kraków: http://www.radiokrakow.pl/www/index.nsf/id/start It was prerecorded and will be aired on a Tuesday evening after the Euro 2012 madness is over.

Another review, this time in Polish: http://www.thekrak.com/2012/07/franks-hard-drive-ep/

or the google translate version, amusing in its own right:

Frank's Hard Drive is a very unusual team wmiksowany among dozens of more or less underground warehouses Krakow. Unusual mainly because all its members are from English-speaking countries (USA, Ireland, England), so they can boast a slightly different perspective on music and the associated world. Certainly, a look that is in many ways reflected in their work.

So far, the team has little seniority, as it was founded in September 2011. But it works very rapidly - within a few months of playing together was their first EP recorded, mixed and mastered by another foreigner - Jonathan Stapleton. EP was released in early June, its color, a little frivolous cover and a light tone blending into the atmosphere of the upcoming holidays.

The biggest advantage is its board of problems. Franks Music in simple and gentle way pours from the speakers and seamlessly blends into the atmosphere, in no way interfering with Tor, after which the procedure is our day. The lightness is noticeable already in the titles of the songs ("Playground", "Sky Blue"), the texts relate to ordinary human elements of daily life ("If you wanna feel like a Summer's Day, then watch out for the rain") disc is nice background, from time to time we focus our attention on individual lots of music. It is light and pleasant, although in a way which sounds a bit amateurish.

Characteristically hoarse voice of a singer (Phil Soanes) operates in a specific register, creating a relaxed (but not boring) tone composition. Other instruments are a mix of melody and noise. Guitars (Phil Soanes, Greg Neuwsma) sometimes sound rock, but often change the nature and oscillate on the border between India and the country. Dry and weird spatial sound of drums introduces a note of uncertainty regarding the human drummer (Mark Bryan). Bass guitar (Shaun O'Neill) is a strong backbone of a whole, giving the album a bit more determination. An interesting finish is trąbkowe inserts (Ian Jenkins), although sometimes they seem a little too much.

The whole ep to keep hoping that the team as the play will become more common and harder to decide define its character and its subsequent proposals will become a tasty morsel for fans of light tones.

our next review, again in Polish: http://detektor.muzz...ny-dysk-franka/

and again the amusing google translate version:

Genesis of the birth of Frank's Hard Drive is quite original and it is possible that a bit far-fetched. But when her group members interested in trying to repeat their music listeners, and I quote it.

"Being in a band Frank's Hard Drive has inspired a man named Frank, who left Poland and moved to China. He left such an inspirational device, like your hard drive. That this is a source of beauty, inspiration, and most of all urge to magically influenced by knowledge of the five guys who have joined forces to share with the world his newfound faith. Hard Drive is now back with a man named Frank, but the band members live with the legacy of what was given them experience in this crucial time. "

To believe in this or treated as a marketing trick - not try to resolved. I can also tell what really happened on the disk was Frank. One thing is certain, the music quintet is as intriguing as the contents of said device.

Based on a noisy but melodic, alternative rock group that is making a move tours in various other musical areas, so distant from each other, such as ska, funk, rock and country music (of course, are only clues, it's hard here to talk about one particular species), performing all the great lightness. Enough to play like her EP. Publisher titled simply "Frank's Hard Drive" was released in Half Eaten Records a few weeks ago and has seven very successful composition. If you are looking for a serene, fatigue-free plates for the summer - Hard Drive Frank is the perfect proposal.

Very nice work!

Echoes of Camper van Beethoven in the vocals... sounds little like some local (Chicago) bands that I am a fan of, as well. I like the horns and it's just good summertime music.

So, just how much $US is 20 PLN?

Thanks Todd! The reviewers all seem to be scratching their heads, not knowing who to compare us to. Who are some of those bands?

20PLN at the current exchange rate is $5.80.

I am blanking on who those other bands are at this moment, but I get a definite 90's vibe from you guys and it just FEELS to me like some of those bands that I saw around town; bands who I liked but who never really made much of a splash beyond Chicago. Hopefully you will make a bigger one. I like it!

So the radio interview will be broadcast tomorrow (tuesday) 7pm local time, which is noon Chicago time. If anyone is interested in hearing the singer, the drummer and myself BSing with a very pleasant Polish radio announcer (who claimed her favorite band is Calexico), you can catch the link here: http://www.radiokrakow.pl/www/index.nsf/OnLine/

incidentally, we've also had another review, but I'll stop boring you with those.
