University flushes $60,000 down the toilet

A Maryland university is spending $60,000 on small, handheld, bulletproof whiteboards to "protect" its professors and students.

 

What a waste of money. I guarantee you that those things won't stop a rifle round and they're too small to offer much protection from handguns. Security theater at its finest.

I can think of maybe 875 ways universities waste more than $60,000 in less time than it takes to install bulletproof white boards.  I agree that it's ridiculous, but $60,000 is two grad students hanging out in an autoclave on top of taking classes for free.
