bböp
From the "no rest for the weary" department, Jeff barely had time to unpack from Wilco's South American run before he jetted off again for a one-off solo show at the long-running Spoleto Festival in Charleston. The 17-day event, which features a wide variety of performances across theater, dance, music and other disciplines, has apparently been a cultural institution in the South Carolina coastal city since 1977. As Jeff wrote in his most recent Substack post, he was looking forward to the show: "It’s always fun to just play an acoustic guitar and sing some songs without the rigamarole of amps and whatnot, even though I adore those things, as you all know." Though I wasn't able to attend this one, it appears that it was an approximately 90-minute set and took place outdoors at the College Of Charleston. Was any one on here able to go? If so, please chime in with some thoughts. For now, thanks to the Wilcoworld powers-that-be, here was the complete setlist as played: Story To Tell I Am Trying To Break Your Heart Normal American Kids Ambulance Evergreen Please Tell My Brother Gwendolyn Having Been Is No Way To Be New Madrid A Lifetime To Find I Know What It's Like Evicted Impossible Germany Spiders (Kidsmoke) (acoustic arrangement, presumably) Dawned On Me Jesus, etc. You Are Not Alone Laminated Cat (aka Not For The Season) Lou Reed Was My Babysitter I'm The Man Who Loves You 2
