I'm a Wheelas always, sound was dialed in from the get go. a nice career spanning set lists. new songs from Cruel Country are some of my faves and lots of tunes I haven't heard in quite some time like Far, Far Away, You Never Know and Passenger Side. Looking forward to round 2 tonight

I brought 3 newbies to New Haven the night before and suffice to say, I now have 3 more friends to attend Wilco shows with. everyone was floored by how great the band sounded and for me, as one who has seen them 40+ times since 1996, the new tunes were the highlight for me

Cost was about $82/ticket

I have 2 extras for Sunday’s show in Brooklyn
-
I suppose it has been talked about to death. But i still don't know why they got that guy in the band.
Don Was hooked Mayer up with them.
Going to Citifield tomorrow and looking forward to it. Usually do 1 show per tour and its still a good time. Also dig the big rock show with all the bells and whistles and Weir and Kreutzman are still in good shape. Agree that sometimes the tempos are a bit slow (lookin' at you bobby) and while Oteil is a great bass player, I do miss what Phil brings to the table. Speaking of Phil, I caught a killer P&F show a couple of months ago with Luther Dickinson and Benmont Tench, so Phil can still bring it as well, just depends on who is friends are.

Caught the show in Brooklyn last night and they were great. Jay's got a Roy Orbison look going and the band is top notch, mark spencer, in particular, blew my mind (pedal steel, keys and telecaster). Big fan of the new one and disagree big time with busted as I think its spot on but to each our own. Jay's lyrics along with his sense of rhythm and melody speak to me big time and I would see them again tomorrow if it was possible. it was just that good.

Hello, I have 1 extra for Town Hall tomorrow night. Up in the balcony. I will be there tonight if anyone is interested and wants to meet up in 3D. cost abput $60 with fees, will to sell for $50

Yeah, I love that they played Albuquerque!
I thought, based on Lukas Nelson's comments in an interview early in the year, that they were gonna do a full summer tour. You can't count on anything for sure with Neil until its official, though. Maybe it was a pipe dream or never planned in the first place, but I am itching to get to see them again after the barnburner I saw exactly two years ago this week in Tucson. Must've been great at the Cap in Port Chester!
It was a great show. I really dug POTR and hope that they come back soon. Had tickets to the Crazy Horse Cap show that was cancelled a few years back so I was totally psyched that he sorta kinda re-scheduled. If you have access to dimeadozen there is an ok recording:

Caught Neil and POTR at the Cap last night. Great show, cost me about twice as much as I paid for 3 Wilco shows, but worth every penny. Neil is the man...

Caught the show last Sunday at Town Hall in NYC and it was stellar. Both Roger and Chris looked and sounded great and Marty's Fabulous Superlatives were all that. Great show

Very surprised that this hasn't come up for discussion yet:

yeah my choices may have been a bit esoteric for the newish casual listener. it was my main era of seeing the boys (79-85) so i am biased in that way and I do feel that they did some of their finest playing therein although they were consistently great up until Brent passed Might suggest Go To Nassau as a better representation of the era for a casual listener.
Both Europe 72 and Skull and Roses were major stepping stones for me and my buddies back in the day
-
Very casual GD fan here looking to dive into the pool of live recordings. Have sampled various shows from the 1970s through friends who are hardcore Deadheads. Give me your top 5 shows for a newbie to start with.
I am admittedly a "Brent" baby as I only saw one show with keith and donna so here goes from my perspective, certainly not an exhaustive list as it changes from day to day, but here's a good start ;
3-9-81 MSG ( my all time favorite chinacat>rider)
9-26-81 Buffalo (seemless second set with a nice morning dew)
4-19-84 Philly (all time big rr blues)
11-29-80 Alligater Alley, FL (big time shakedown st)
10-11-83 MSG (return of St. Stephen, solid rockin' second set)

Yeah. Somehow his voice sounds relatable. Like he's as flawed, unsure of himself and maybe overly-sensitive about things, as ALL of us human beings are to varying degrees throughout all our lives.
Really like his voice in early Wilco especially. Comfortable.
kind of like jerry garcia, which sio probably why they are two of my all time faves. there is just something comfortable and real about both of them
-
Ditto w/the Al and Joey years. They seemingly played in CT every weekend in the 80s. Pretty sure Terry Adams is the onlt
old school member still in the band. That set list above looks a little short, too....
yes, Terry is the only old school member left but the new lineup is pretty damn good. guitar player, Scott Ligon is really impressive. last night's show was about 2.5 hours non-stop
-
Rediscovered these guys at the 2015 Solid Sound Festival and have had the pleasure of seeing them on numerous occasions since, including last night at Darryl's House in Pawling, NY. All I can say is these guys are on fire and the current lineup is certainly doing justice to the legacy. Have to be one of the best live bands out there right now. Catch 'em if you can. Last night's set list:

Good points. I also think it is because they are a band and not 4 dudes from the Dead playing with other musicians for a tour. Mayer is really into these songs where as Haynes and Herring were just there to play their lead-style guitar to fill in. Same with Trey at FTW. I also think there was a lot of buzz and momentum created by FTW which helped them. Definitely helped Phish. To keep this going there has to be some new blood that keeps it interesting rather than rehashing. Although, I know many see it as rehashing. Furthur was very tight, but very weird with JK in the uncanny valley of JG.
I go back and forth with D/Co. If I'm in the mood for very mellow slow Dead-ish music, I like it. Oteil and Jeff are definitely adding something to the music rather than just playing along. Bob is Bob now. Ultimately, this is what the core 4 have been searching for over the last 20 years. Not replacements, but musicians who could fill the open spot with their sound and have it sound good with the music. To be a new member of the band. Make it continually interesting. Sure, I miss Phil, but Oteil in that spot has been very compelling. If they lose the drummers, Joe Russo would be totally compelling in that spot. Does that make sense?
FWIW, I got free tickets to a recent Eagles concert (I know, but I love 'em:). Of course Frey was missed, but Vince Gill is the heir to that place in the band. He was excellent and the band didn't miss a beat. In fact, they seemed more like a band than they ever had because Henley's arch competition was gone. Henley was totally comfortable playing all Eagles and Joe Walsh songs.
I miss Phil, too - but no one can say Oteil's not a VERY good singer. IMO he should sing ALL the Jerry ballads. He certainly has a quality to his vocals that makes it ok for me. Jeff certainly has earned the position on the keys. As far as Mayer goes - it just like he's out of his element. I know the guy can fucking play, he can play some blues. Can you imagine how it might work if he played a Cream tribute?
great points fellas. I wholeheartedly concur. it was nice being back at MSG with the boys

Anyone have a theory about why this current iteration of the GD has been so much more successful in terms of touring revenue than previous ones (such as The Other Ones, Furthur, or The Dead)?
I do, its because they are using the mid 80's template when the GD were at the height of their popularity with regard to the structure of the shows. also, mayer is bringing in a lot of young fans who were never into the Dead before
Caught the tour opener last sunday at MSG and really enjoyed it and I am a big skeptic when it comes to the post Jerry GD world. Got lucky with the set list and the tempos and thought Mayer (who I really wanted to dislike initially) did a real good job. guy can play that guitar and wasn't copying Jerry which I usually find to be a big turn off

lovin' the Solid Sound Roadcase as we speak. perfect Sunday morning music

pretty cool little interview with Bob Weir including some very cool Wilco content:
