  1. People sell strange shit on eBay, that was clear to me long ago, but I may have found what may be the pinnacle of strange shit-ness. As part of my master plan for world domination, i am simplifying my life. Lately, something thats been standing in my way of such domination, and a big frustration for me, has been waking up in the morning and finding a pair of dress socks (i work in an office. i have to wear these things). Particularly finding a pair that is both (i) clean and (ii) matching. Anyway, the frantic searching has driven me nuts so I'm ditching all 27 1/2 pairs of black/brown
  2. Even Pitchfork will see the greatness - predictions on this album? 8.0+
  3. Seriously missing the ol' pink pig; having trouble digging my copy out of the couch. PM appreciated.
  4. This is exciting. Kids in Philly is definitely my top 10 albums of all time. By far their best - havn't heard the EP so i cant compare.
  5. Anyone move to a new city, and the few friends who are into music can't make it, and thus you must brave it alone. been to plenty of shows and strangely never alone. its odd to think about. and im sure it will be very damned odd when its happening later tonight. so much to think about... whats the etiquette, how do i act, do i sidle up to strangers and sing in their ear, do i act obnoxiously friendly, get raging drunk? all of these questions and more race through my mind. comments, advice, commiserations?
  6. Row FF (6th row), Sec 4, seats 10&11. very sweet seats . asking price is what i paid (a shade under 40 per ticket). Thanks for looking and email me at scott.kitchens@gmail.com.
  7. http://youtube.com/watch?v=nlEHCZBXo9k&amp...ted&search= Rolling stones of Rolling Stone. Musically, it sounds suspiciously like that godawful twyal tharp musical version of like rolling stone, but since mick doesnt seem so garishly chipper, i'll let it slide.
  8. This is why i buy a shirt as soon as i get there and put it on instantly. not only is it awesome but it makes me super original.
  9. Wow, that surprising. I was figuring either Red Door or somewhere in E. Nashville. Even though it has a jukebox, I was hoping you would say it was one of my favorite digs, the Villager.
  10. I ran across a shot i took of my favorite Wilco poster, thought i'd share. Really old and really sweet. Bought it secondhand years ago. Anyone else seen this poster before? edit -- looks like the image hosting service compressed it a bit, the color is really vivid on the paper, but comes off as garish in the photo. oh well
  11. Summerteeth is the best Sunday morning CD to clean up a trashed house to.
  12. Point taken, but i just don't think its great enough of a change for it to be an evolution.
  13. It comes out today. I think Eggs was Fantastic, and after having Armchair Apocrypha for a week or so, it's def pretty good. It's not quite the equal of Eggs, but its definitely worth a purchase. The only annoyance i have is the repeat of a song from Weather Systems (not really a repeat, more an evolution -- there are more lyrics and the song is longer -- but the lyrics and melodic structure is pretty much the same, and thats a bit dissapointing for a guy as creative as andrew)
  14. was on Sat night here in nashville. Now resides on the DVR in HD.
  15. Ok, who's the joker who made these, and how can i get one. Seriously. Can you Cafe Press? After seeing him solo 3 times in the past couple of weeks, i miss him. I need to reconnect. -s
  16. Anyone have an idea how to play the intro riff? I found a tab elsewhere here that had it as: (on low E) 0 - 1 -0 -2 - 0 - 3 - 0 - 4 but it doesnt sound right. Any ideas?
  17. I talked to the taper at the show, he's pretty backlogged with shows, so it will probably be a more than a month before it gets up.
  18. Generally, its much more dynamic on vinyl. Depends on the rig though. Unfortunately to get into the vinyl game you need to have a turntable/cartridge thats $300 plus. If its shitty stuff or improperly set up, CD will beat it everytime. Vinyl has advantages, and they cannot be realized on a plastic turntable.
  19. The picking pattern is availble on gumbo pages, but really damn hard.... i usually just fingerpick the same rhythm instead. Much easier... Also, a good version is avalable on the bonus disc of the IATTBYH DVD. Slow it down and watch the picking to get the pattern.
  20. Anyone know what the meager third verse of Pieholden he played last night comes from, was this impromtu or part of the song? Last verse was something like ... "i apologize, i apologize..."
  21. UT's March 16-20, 1992. Its also in video form on the bonus disk of the IATTBYH DVD.
  22. I talked to the guy right before the show started, he said he'll get it up here or etree eventually but that he was still processing some old shows in his queue, so it might be a while. Way better than either Mem or Nash. Great show. Pieholden, Cars cant escape, and Immigrant Song were the highlights
