Hey ya'll! :wave I should be working!!! :blush

    :music

Ay op, Wendy!!! Me too, I keep trying to work but then I stop and just sit back and listen... :)

    (hello everyone else too!)

  2. I just wanted to add here that I recently received tickets for an upcoming show, I had ordered 3 field tickets for the DE show, and received two field and one stands ticket. I got very nervous about it getting straightened out, but to Front Gate's credit they fixed the situation very quickly. I'm very pleased with them.

  3. Just got home from the show....we had a great time! We were in center section row J on the floor but in the row in front of us to the right side were a guy and 2 woman with a very small child that they kept taking turns holding.

Hi jcarlile1, you must have been right near my friend and I. We sat to the right of the couple with the child (it was only the guy and one woman, as the other woman was my friend, and we did not know them). The little boy was very sweet and very relaxed, and his parents very friendly, but I agree, I worried about his ears without protection as well. :ohwell

We came in from the Cleveland area and it was my friend's second Wilco outting, and I have converted her to a Wilco fan. It is so exciting to watch someone really starting to love Wilco. We both had a fantastic time at the show, before the show (it was really nice meeting some VCers before hand!), and even today after the show in town. Great experience all they way around, and I loved that the audience was so loud and into the show. Everyone around us were singing and dancing and just really into it. Wilco Season has officially begun! :)

  4. Wilcogirl! :wave I remember you! (Though I can't remember your real-life name) Come around here more often, it's nice to see you! :cheekkiss Thanks for the good wishes. I'm overdue for a brief lull in the action, before I gear up for both my boys graduating in the same week....Brennan from high school on the 9th, and Tom from UC Riverside on the 13th. We're all hoping the folks will feel well enough to attend the graduations, but right now I'm satisfied just to have them home from the hospital!

:cheekkiss Nice to see you too, it has been awhile, but it's nice to come back and see familiar faces! Congrats on the graduations, wow! I hope your folks are feeling better for it, too.

I promise to stop in more, a lot has been going on but it's good to be back. Re my real-life name... PM on it's way to remind you! :)

Edit: or not until I figure out what's different about PM's since I've last been here, it appears I don't have the capabilities. I shall sleuth around to find out why!

  5. Ha. Just an hour or so before I read this, I added a signature to my VC profile that's a Tweedy quote about the 'mats.

Someone mentioned that quote in a thread on a Westerberg board recently. I had said how much I thought that the way the Replacements closed out Rock Around The Clock (on the new bonus ed. of Stink) sounded like the way WIlco closed out Dreamer in my Dreams.

I'd always thought that about "Hootenany" from that LP (sorry I can't call it a cd since i bought all of their stuff originally on album lol) I haven't gotten the new Mats reissues yet (bad me!), but I am a long time fan. Is it similar to the end of Hootenany then?

  6. My mother cares not one whit about Wilco. This is a good thing, because it means I always have a babysitter for my kid when I go to shows. No way am I going to jeopardize that. In fact, I might play her some Gwar and tell her it's Wilco, just to be on the safe side.

:lol I already lost my mom as a baby sitter, when Wilco comes around its expected that she wants to come, so I don't even ask. My mother-in-law, on the other hand . . . I may employ your tactic poppydawn, don't want to lose her, too!

  7. Funny, that was one of the worst Wilco shows I've been to. Had alot to do with the crowd around me.

Awww :ohwell I was supposed to be right there with you, too . . . we would have had fun! One of these days!!

  8. While hard pressed to pick, I'd recommend "Silence" and "Iowa City Adieu" from Circles. From the Hem/Autumn Defense CD "Bluebirds Fall" and from the newer self titled I love "Winterlight" Just my two cents! :)

  9. I like it, maybe because I think that's the best movie I've ever seen. I don't listen to it very often, but I'd probably listen to it all the time if it they had left off Johnny Depp's poetry readings. It'd also be better if it included the fantastic opening theme that Neil plays on acoustic guitar.

People who like the Dead Man soundtrack would probably enjoy Richard Thompson's soundtrack to Grizzly Man.

Oooh, thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out. I still haven't seen the movie.

As for Dead Man, I agree. It is one of my favorite movies as well!

  10. Hahahha Duran Duran! LOL

Thank you Jen! :cheekkiss I definitely want to meet up one of these days. My birthday wish is for a Wilco show on a Saturday somewhere we can meet between Ohio and South Carolina, in a small town where we can walk around and explore pre show. Oh, also warm weather time. How's that for a wish! :P

Thanks for the wishes, too Flick, llyn, and to my birthday buddy! :)

Its been a nice day so far. My mom and her best friend who is visiting from out of town showed up with flowers, cake and some szechwan noodles and sweet and sour soup for me this afternoon.

  11. LOL Isadorah! Similarly: When you call your mother-in-law and you hear her holding her breath when you ask her to baby sit, because she knows its for a Wilco show, which most likely means travel to the show, and at least two days worth sitting!

And. . . when you are so obsessed your four year old also knows every song by Wilco, and you end up getting into arguments over WHICH Wilco song to listen to.

  12. grand junction is only an hour from moab

grand junction venue is only 950 seats

Hey! I've driven from Moab through Grand Junction on the way to visit relatives in Glenwood Springs. Would love to be able be there, but alas, not this tour.

Have fun for me, ok? :)

  13. Hmmmmm.

Fly to Albuquerque May 1/2, 5 days camping in Canyonlands NP in Moab, three shows, leave Albuquerque May10.

I just may be able to sell that! We can call the Economic Stimulus package the Wilco Stimulus package.......

Oh man, vulture, that would be my dream trip if you slip in Bryce too. Its not good for me to see that in print, such horrible temptation! :lol
