  1. Stuff up!

No, seriously I don't know but your post makes for interesting reading, It's crazy to think that once the recording is in the can, the end results differ considerably over different mediums. So if you ripped the vinyl to say uncompressed AIFF/WAV - would you still hear less compression than on a straight CD rip to AIFF/WAV?

    Just curious.

  2. It would be way cool if somebody PDF'd the thing and offered it via PM. It would also be way cool If I had lots of money and didn't need to work again, maybe meet the woman of my dreams and live happily ever after.

    Just a thought.

  3. Oh well, seeing as you ask :)

I'll shamelessly plug more once I'm settled in, thankyou ;)

Twigboy, that sounds great and (assuming it's you) the lead singer has a bit of Kevin Rowland/Robert Smith in his voice. Nice.

    Anyway, have fun here.

  4. Wikipedia lists 11 major releases from Wilco including the 7 studio LPs, Mermaid Avenue Volumes I & II, Kicking Television, and oddly the More Like The Moon EP. However, they excluded the Wilco Book which is relegated to the Related Articles section.

Somebody needs to fix the Wilco entry on Wikipedia.

Thanks, I always forget about Mermaid Avenue when listing wilco albums in my head. I hardly ever play the Wilco book CD but will definitely rip it to mp3 someday, this is one of those things that you remember you should have done before you actually scratch it.

  5. This is a little random but so am I so I'll carry on regardless... Does anybody know what key harp Ryan Adams uses on the Whiskeytown song 'The Ballad of Carol Lynn'? I'd be ever so grateful if somebody with a full set could tell me. As somebody who only owns an Eb and a C, I find it frustrating that it's a trial and error thing when you want to play along with something.

mini rant over, please help... :worship

  6. My gf likes Jesus etc. but makes me switch ALTWYS off the second she hears the opening chords she says it unsettles her as her ex used to hit her. I really wish that I'd never explained the meaning of the song to her now, she'd be none the wiser... It's one of my favourite Wilco tracks so it's becoming a real pain in the ass.

    Oh well...

  7.

Gold- Ryan Adams (All of his other albums pale in comparison to this masterpiece.)

You have to be kidding right? It's a good record but Heartbreaker is his masterpiece by a long chalk, to say it pales in comparison is frankly madness on your part my dear friend, I'm sure most others would concur too...

Keep on rocking in the free world.

  8. Country Disappeared is fast becoming my favourite song on the record and I'd say lyrically it has more of an Ashes of American flags vide to it rather than anything from SBS. I'm particularly in love with the lines:

So every evening we can watch from above

    Crush cities like a bug...

And the way Jeff's voice sounds on the '...leaf red blood' line is sublime. As are a lot of his lyrical couplets. I know everybody will, but I don't think there's any point reading too far into the following verse:

You've got the white clouds hanging so high above you

    You've got the helicopters dangling

Angling to shoot the shots to feed the hungry

    Weekend news crew anchormen

...because again, I think it's just observational stuff as in Ashes... I am a little curious about the reference to the auctioneer though.

Man I love the feel of this song

    Alex
