Hi there Trent, sorry this is late.
Okay, so it's a little messy and not as visually obvious as I thought it might be for you but it's kinda' how Jeff plays it (apart from the 5-4-2-0 slide, Jeff fingers it slightly different). I'm not making excuses but it was tricky playing it a bit slower than usual and I didn't have a pick handy either so it's rough around the edges. If it's still a mystery I could maybe film my other hand for you sometime (with pick) and do a picture-in-picture?
I've capo'd it at the third fret, but you can do it at two (as per the record) if it suits you better... I've uplaoded it HD to vimeo because we all know youtube sucks technically in comparison...

If I had an alternative to offer I would have. As I did with the I'll Fight tabs.
And Hotel Arizona is a turd, get over it.
Ha ha... fair enough. Sorry to be bitchy, bad day etc.
are we friends again?

I need some help with this one. I don't really understand how the fingering works with the riff you've tabbed here. I get how the chords are strummed continually, but i the riffs dont sound right to me for some reason. Are you supposed to be hold down the D for example while you're doing that first riff with the hammer-ons? like the first riff is 002200 and then hammer on the 4, do you hold down the D in addition to that so it would be 002232 with like a flat index finger and pinky doing the hammer-ons? I'm sure these are stupid questions but i'm a newb and i can't figure out how to play this right!
Hey there, I'll try and film myself this weekend playing this for you focusing on my fretting hand, hopefully this will clear a few things up.

A': x00240
that can't be right.
I've not had a look at this yet but if it is wrong, would it not be just a little more pro-active to offer an alternative? Looking through some of your previous posts, it's pretty clear that you don't excel at pleasantries...
And you think Hotel Arizona sucks....

Just downloaded the DC show and have to say that the mix is awful. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I'd just get your hands on a decent audience recording as Jeff's vox is waaaaay to low in the mix.
Thanks, but boo!
Alex
EDIT: The Ashes tracks are mind-blowing quality, the mix is near perfect.

Is this that studio banter with Jay, Jeff and Jim? that was pretty funny - is that posted anywheres?
No sorry dude, it's a factual radio documentary on 'Numbers Stations'. The Wilco link is that the band sampled an excerpt from one of the transmissions at the end of Poor Places and a bit of fuzz and bleeps at the end of Pot Kettle Black. Just being geeky and not for the first time.

Wow! Now that's what I call a complete tab.
Many thanks for all your work...

Morrissey:
Re-issue ! Re-package ! Re-package !
Re-evaluate the songs
Double-pack with a photograph
Extra Track (and a tacky badge)
Why meddle with perfection? If there are extra tracks from the sessions, give them away or stick them on iTunes...

The clip isn't working for me, but I hear that John Pfiffner preformed some of the music in that movie. Hope this helps.
Found!
"Duck Pond'
Performed by 'The Sixth Great Lake'
Many thanks to anybody that listened!
Alex (and I'm very happy).

Hi everyone, (thanks for clicking) I'm trying desperately to identify a song from the film 'Great World Of Sound'. I'm led to believe that it's not on the credits at the end, but I just know that somebody here will know right away... It's quite low in the mix and the lyrics I can make out proved fruitless on a quick google...

I can't offer anybody anything in return for their time, but you'll make me the happiest boy on the lower east side (well Manchester actually).
VC, I need you.

I heard that Analogman is actually Pat Sansone in a wig...

a fantastic insight into that 'murky' period...
Many thanks for that,

Yeah, first time the band sell us some crap.
Really bad tabs
We should really get a sticky up on here letting everybody know it's pants.

With that said, what would you like to hear them play at next year's residency shows?
Tractor Rape Chain - GBV
...Or for that matter, all of Bee Thousand.

On a related note, do you ever wonder if Jeff looks at the stuff we post up here? Do you think he giggles at our mistakes or is flattered that anyone would give a damn and try to figure out his tunes?
I doubt it... I 'll bet he has had a quick look, but I spoke to Westerberg once and he said he (himself) didn't even have a computer, it was a while ago and I thought, oh well. I think it's easy to flatter ourselves... I actually remember Mike Scott (I think) from the Waterboys posting a correction for a guitar tab on a forum once, he posted under the name 'wingfeet' or something similar. I remember people telling him he'd got the bridge wrong!
Some people.
Anyway, it sure would be nice to get some corrections, but if they're too busy to come to the UK (there's unfinished business ) , I seriously can't see Nels sat at his computer on wordpad typing out his parts in ALTWYS.
Alex, who's ipod currently has Guided By Voices leading Wilco in the favouritism stakes by A LONG WAY.
He'll keep the faith...

That's a much neater idea than having to search through 36 results for 'Pot Kettle Black' in the search facility, then scrolling down, discounting the irrelevant mentions as you go. I'm all for it and I'll keep my weary fingers crossed...
Thanks and welcome to VC Blake, there are lots of great guitarists here who generally seem happy to help out!

Thanks for the link... got me thinking though that SBS was in no way the best album of the year for me.
It's been a good year nonetheless!

How about:
'There She Goes' by The La's
'Another Girl, Another Planet' by 'The Only Ones'.
Definitely 'perfect pop' for me,
Alex
Sorry man - just re-read your post, I'm not sure of the times, I thought of another one as well
'Sparky's Dream' by The Teenage Fanclub.
Good luck.
